There are a gazillion varieties of "white". Some are warm; some are cool. Some have a color bias, and some appear neutral. The only way to evaluate a potential paint color is to buy a small sample jar and paint several large areas on pieces of plywood or similar materials suitable for paint. Take the samples to the location you have in mind and place at least one in the sun and at least one in the shade. Study the effects of the samples under various, changing lighting conditions and make your decision. For most of us, it takes several sample and several tries before we are satisfied. Good luck!

Thanks Summit! Yes... I originally wanted that hallway there... but we were open to "conserving space" (to try to keep the house at/around 4000sf) if the architect had different ideas. I think he did a good job getting in what we need... but..... I feel like I want that hallway regardless of how much/little SF it adds to the house. I still feel like the laundry/craft room + mudroom + back pool bathroom needs reconfiguring still. Would a hall going from that back door connecting to the hall from the guest room (so the bathroom opens up into that hall) work? Or maybe move the laundry room down so its accessible from the guest hallway vs teh back corner. Hmm.

Here's some information about sliding windows. In a storm the exposed track fills with water and if it doesn't drain fast enough water enters the house. I've seen it happen in a test chamber. The fact that they are cheap is not enough of a reason to put them in a house. And little burgers are known to cause indigestion. Life is not fair.

I would try to lose the yellow tones of what is there now and take the house more taupe/grey and the trim white. (The black trim creeped me out. I think it's too harsh.) One feature of the present set-up that seems disturbing to me is the post spacing, as it is not symmetrical. One net negative effect is that the porch opening is too narrow to be truly inviting. I'd explore placement of the 2 (from left) post, moving it farther left so as to increase the opening width and symmetry with the right pair of posts. I'd also explore uniform spacing across the porch and see if that happens to increase the opening width. The builder was focused on correlating the opening with the door, but this doesn't matter nearly as much. I have to mention, too that the posts are wimpy, making the house look cheap. I'd replace them with some professionally made hefty but graceful posts. The railing and pickets need to be more refined looking. Make some wide steps that equal the width of an expanded opening, a spacious landing, and a walk that is 4' wide.
