Show me your hex-tile floors and tell me your grout color please!
Comments (8)Hi Bill, I have seen mention of this Mapei on other threads and did a google search and came up with a lot of foreign-language links. Who makes it? Or better yet, can you give me a link to a website? (Also, I sent you an email - did you get it? I noticed another tile installation disaster today. Our Master Bath floor has been covered for protection until today when part of it was exposed while the double vanity was installed. The large 16" square honed Calcutta Gold tiles are not centered on any of the walls, so there are really off grout lines at the center of the vanity. It is really obvious and when I think about it I literally want to cry :( . This is our forever house and everywhere I turn, a tile job is done badly. I could really use a good referal!)...See MorePlease show me your hardwood floors w/ brand name
Comments (10)This is Menard's "choice and best" or something like that grade in solid red oak, $1.71 / square foot on sale in 2009, unfinished pieces. We threw out almost a quarter of the stuff because it had knots or wild grain or some kid of burn from the plane or an irregular lip. A very kind friend donated 3 days labor and expertise and I supervised by sorting boards and handing the guys the next hand-chosen piece and took their guff for every one of them. We rented a nailer for 3 days. We put no stain on it but used 5 coats of Ace Hardware waterbase urethane, each coat followed by a session with a rented sander/buffer and a mound of disposables for it. Not sure how much the DIY cost ended up to be. Mat in photo is Gel Pro "Wicker" in Oyster Grey. Cabs are unstained red oak with lacquer finish. Roughly 9 months later, we are pleased with the floor. No problems so far. It does show dirt but we're hoping that once our landscaping is finished the dirt clumps will not be so common. Comments (13)original maple floor (1912). Straycat, I use photobucket and there is an "HTML Code" I copy and paste (it's in a box titled Image Link Code.) You'll see the actual code when you paste but then you can see the actual picture when you "Preview Message." My pictures always end up really big so I change the size by inserting a new height and width into the code (in this case I added height="400" width="299.5" just after the part of the code border="0" in the code ) First try finding the HTML Code and click on it (it should copy automatically) and try putting it in your message--you can see if it worked by previewing your message. Then you can try playing around with size. I hope this helps---I don't know much about this, only what I've learned from other patient posters on the site. You can try it without actually posting, you can keep checking to see if you got it right with "Preview Message" without ever needing to "Submit Message." I hope this helps :)...See Moredark cabinet people, please show me your porcelain or tile floors
Comments (10)I really love all the pics since I am doing a lighter Porcelain Tile in my kitchen and wanting to stain my 18.5 year old oak kitchen cabinets a deeper cherry color. Since the room is open to the family room and my glass end tables and coffee table has cherry legs, I think this would go nice. I love my kitchen table and it appears to be a cherry stain but more on the brown side wiht a hint of red. Lmarletto, I also love your beautiful tile (or it is slate?) with your kitchen. So many great ideas! Buehl, lmarletto, gibby3000, the way you have your tiles laid out are giving me new ideas. Laurie2008, your tile is so similar to mine and looks great the way it is laid on the floor. I am now confused and I guess I will have to lay the tile down and then decide what pattern will look best in my foyers and in my kitchen. chinchette, what wood species and stain are your beautiful cabinets that flow so well with your gorgeous Brazilian Cherry floors in your other rooms....See Moreeld6161
