Red oak cabinets, white oak flooring.

Espresso-stained maple cabinets, red oak hardwood floors stained a dark brown shade. Cabinets are the same colour as the dark grain in the floors, as it's good to have some contrast between them when you have both dark cabinets and floors. Now we have white painted perimeter cabinets and tons of light coming into the kitchen, which is why we weren't afraid to go dark on dark.

Our floors are a brazillian cherry looking laminate. They are the Harmonics (Costco's) brand. I think Quickstep still may offer a similar looking product.

Medium dark cabinets with a beech wood look laminate floor. Don't remember the brand, but likely not available anymore as this was my old house and installed in 2002.

New house, with darker stain and natural pecan wood floors. Still haven't installed the backsplash.

Our kitchen cabinets are fairly dark cherry with a black glaze. The floor is a medium to dark stained oak. The toe kick is black. In person there is more contrast between the cabinets and the floor. The cabinets are very close in color to the table.

I was quite happy to see your post as I am in the same situation. I either want dark cabs on lighter floors, or lighter cabs on dark floors. If I have lighter cabs or floors, I don't want either to be too light...

Straycat, I use photobucket and there is an "HTML Code" I copy and paste (it's in a box titled Image Link Code.) You'll see the actual code when you paste but then you can see the actual picture when you "Preview Message." My pictures always end up really big so I change the size by inserting a new height and width into the code (in this case I added height="400" width="299.5" just after the part of the code border="0" in the code ) First try finding the HTML Code and click on it (it should copy automatically) and try putting it in your message--you can see if it worked by previewing your message. Then you can try playing around with size. I hope this helps---I don't know much about this, only what I've learned from other patient posters on the site. You can try it without actually posting, you can keep checking to see if you got it right with "Preview Message" without ever needing to "Submit Message."
