Exterior House Colors-Need Help
Comments (19)@cpartist Thank you for your design ideas. I appreciate the time you put into making the diagram. It does definitely make the house look less busy and emphasizes the entry. We do like more of a craftsman look which makes the board and batten work for us. Unfortunately, it is too late to make changes to the layout. The lap siding and board and batten are already installed. The stone is not installed yet, but we actually removed the stone from front of the house replacing it with lap siding and will just be keeping it around the pillars and surrounding the front door. I understand what you mean about a lot going on. I do like the interest in varied textures, but I do feel that effort must be made to not make it look too busy. I think i should either go with one color or just the shingles in a slightly darker color and the rest one color. Would that be your recommendation to simplify? The front door will be a stained wood door....See MoreWhole house color scheme help
Comments (67)Couple of suggestions for sampling colors Buy a pad of 240 lb watercolor paper Prime one wall or section of wall Paint your samples on the watercolor paper Hang the watercolor paper on the primed wall and look at no more than 2 at a time. Painting samples over your existing color makes you compare the color to the existing color. Colors don't play alone, they play with the other colors in their space. If one of the other colors won't be there you don't want to see how they play together. The color in the middle of each block of color is the same color....See MoreUpdating house color-need help

Comments (13)Anyone of these Benjamin Moors colors would look good. I took the shutters off to "paint," but I think it looks better with them. They are a handsome raised panel style. The one set of windows that would be a candidate to not have them is the set of two. But it looks silly without them because of the pediment. So I vote to leave all the shutters as is....See Morehousegal200
