Help With Kitchen Hardware Colour Selections
Hi Everyone,
We have finalized our kitchen remodel plans and are now finalizing the hardware colours. The kitchen will be a combination of white and light white oak. It is similar to the image attached with the modern slab cabinetry. The countertop is light (white and gray with mild veining). We have selected brushed nickel for cabinet hardware, edge pulls for drawers and base cabinet doors, and knurled pulls for integrated appliances and pantry doors. Range oven and sink are stainless steel.
My question is this, what silver tone do we select to the kitchen faucet? We have selected the Brizo Odin faucet, image attached. The faucet in stainless is rather boring, and I like the chrome and polished nickel finishes.
We also plan to have our island seating and pendant lights in some kind of coordinating brass finish. I do not want a brass faucet.
Which finish is best for the faucet? Chrome or polished nickel?

Comments (12)i found the mercury glass knobs on amazon. they came six to a package; with shipping it came out to $6 a knob! i actually had my eye on them for my closet, so if i don't use them in the bathroom they'll go there. and breezy, i also thought about the MOP knob but decided against because i thought too matchy as well. -and then i moved on to glass or crystal and decided they would be lost against the dark wood. i think the mercury knobs will work well. we'll see! elle: thank you. the floor tile is some kind of italian porcelain i picked up from best tile. ditto for the shower walls, except it's a crackle tile that doesn't need to be sealed. never saw such an animal, but it's smooth and the crackle finish is much slighter than the usual. i would have carried the marble over from the vanity top but we have well water....See MoreHelp! with SW color selection in kitchen

Comments (12)If you want to brighten up a space get better lighting first before choosing any wall color.If it is in the budget get some pot lights or if not then a good track light with at least 5 heads all the bulbs in either choice should be LEDs 4000K then go to wotk on wall color. Yes I think anew simpler backsplash would be a good start , removing all the clutter the next step nothing on top of the cabinets and as little as possible on the counters will instantly make the space feel brighter .I love a pale gray/ green for a perfect neutral with wood and white trim . Gray Wisp is a good one and if you just want it lighter then cut it 25% i would stay awy from whites or creams for sure....See More

10 months agoHi Jan, thank you for your detailed response. I did consider brass for the cabinet hardware but when we saw the colour renderings of the kitchen, the temperature felt too warm with the oak cabinets and the oak floors, even with the white upper cabinetry mixed in. Once we switched to satin nickel for hardware it looked more balanced. But then again, brass hardware blends in more with the oak cabinetry. I'm flip flopping on this one! I will look into the D pulls, I had originally looked at the square bar pulls from Top Knobs.
I did think about a black faucet initially, however, we recently remodeled our ensuite bathroom and installed black faucets and shower system. And now that I've lived with that for a while, I now know I don't want that in my kitchen. I found it too harsh.
I went out today and looked at more faucets and found an Italian brand - Cea Design - that looks great in a stainless finish.
I do understand what you mean about bringing in some contrast so the room doesn't fall flat. I have considered black for lighting and for the counter stools at the island as a combo. But I'm concerned it'll lean industrial with the black. The room is relatively small and I don't want the lighting to be visually heavy. I was considering a set of 3 glass pendants over the island. Images attached. Or maybe 1 long linear light, or 2 larger pendants. I'm stuck on the lighting!

10 months agoAttached are a few REALLY rough renderings of our kitchen. Please don't pay too much attention to details here. Not the chairs, lights, faucet, and sink we want. There are missing details such as end panels, and hardware on the bottom of the fridge is incorrect. Like I said, it's ROUGH. However, the renderings did help us with colour blocking our finishes (keep in mind the colours are totally off here too!) of white and a light white oak. After reading Jan's advice, I have reconsidered the satin nickel cabinet hardware and stainless faucet.
What if we did brass cabinet pulls, chairs from West Elm in brass with black upholstery, and a brizo faucet in black/gold? Is that a better combination? The faucet does come in just the luxe gold finish as well. Then I also need to plan for lighting. Is this more interesting?
