Mtn, you could just run a rinse cycle on a partial load in the evening. It does a good job. ni dry cycle etc, just rinse. Although some pots or anything baked on, you might have to handwash anyway.

When I took the big plunge and bought a curling iron I figured I should use a heat protectant. I was referred to this. The fragrance is heavy to me but now and then i get a compliment if I hug a friend. I do like using it when blow drying.

I'm waiting to try Kristin Ess shampoo/conditioner, I've heard it's good-but I'm still working on my Oribe and Colleen Rothschild! Right now, loving the Colleen Rothschild. Hubby is using the Oribe.

I'm like you Mtn, I can't tell the difference between any shampoo. Conditioner is different, so I stopped using it. Recently I found a little trick in combing my wet hair which does tangle if it's highlighted. After washing I'd comb my hair, apply a volume mousse, comb out again, then blow dry. With thick shoulder length hair it was a pain. One day I was so tired I put mousse on my tangled wet hair & then combed it. It was amazing. Took just a minute!

Brushing/combing hair after blow drying it upside down is another story. :)

After reading about tangled hair, this detangling brush made a timely appearance on another web site. It has many positive reviews at A.

I can’t say enough about my Olaplex shampoo. I use two different kinds, the first lather woth Olaplex 4c, a clarifying shampoo, followed by a second lather with 4p, a blonde toning shampoo. I don’t often recommend them because each 8 oz bottle is $30. They are great products that clean and protect my hair, which I only wash every three (or four) days now depending on the season. And I don’t use traditional conditioner, just the very inexpensive Unicure— which is so minimal you can leave it in if you want.

I too love Olaplex shampoo and conditioner. Before having my hair colored it was Kiehl's Amino Acid or Olive Oil shampoo and conditioner. I can tell when my husband does not use the Kiehl's shampoo.

Zalco, on your recommendation I switched to Olaplex No. 6 Bond Smoother about a year ago and love it! It really helps with the frizz. Perhaps I’ll try the Olaplex shampoo when my Kerastase is used up; I’ve been very happy with all the Kerastase products I’ve used.

China, I am so happy you are pleased with the leave in conditioner. I only switched to the shampoo and conditioner because I color my hair now. I used a box of dye during covid, it said dark brown, it was black, and the hairdresser had to bleach my hair to get back to dark brown. The bleaching was brutal. My hair felt like straw. Olaplex helped a lot.

Another Olaplex devotee-love their products and won’t use anything else.

They are pricey but I find a little goes a long way and a bottle lasts a long time.

I'm going to keep the Kristen Ess in my back pocket. They've discont'd my fave Aveda Scalp benefits conditioner. I was able to get 2, one litre bottles on sale so that should last me a year or two. I've tried to switch in the past just due to the cost of the Scalp Benefits (it went up to $130 with tax for 1 litre!) but always went back to it.

I've been tempted to try some of the Olaplex products. My DD2 has very long, very thick, very curly hair and she has used them occasionally, but didn't seem smitten. I'm tempted to try the one suggested above for frizziness. My hair is not straight, but not curly. Just wavy enough to look a mess when it's humid.

For my own product recommendations, I've jumped on the mushroom bandwagon and am taking Lion's Mane daily in my tea. Too early to tell how it's working, but it is draining my pocket book. :-)

Thanks, Mtn, I'll give both of those a try! Both shampoo and conditioner make a difference in my hair. The Lush shampoo bar (the turquoise one with what looks like bit of seaweed in it) works the best on my hair). I tried Olaplex S&C and it didn't work well for me.

I should mention my hair type; shoulder length, fine, highlighted, prone to tangling.
