Porcelain tiles that look like wood
Comments (52)You have a few more problems than some missing tiles. When trenching such as yours, the exposed sides of the old slab should have been drilled and pegged with rebar from one side to the other to help reduce the chance one side will rise or fall different than the other. Was this done in your case? If there is no rebar, the edges of the slab will need to be treated as a cold joint in which case you'd need a grout joint / expansion joint above each side of the trench. Then comes the need to remove more tiles in order to install a crack isolation membrane (or similar) to reduce the chance of in plane movement in the future. This will make for some ugly grout joints. Can I interest you in some nice carpeting?...See MoreUsing wood look tiles in the bedroom?
Comments (32)"I can't think of anyone in the construction business who would be happy with a customer looking over their shoulder and micromanaging every detail of the installation." Yes, and no. I can assure you that as a customer, I have no interest in and am also not happy about micromanaging a job. Unfortunately, I live and learn almost every single time when someone does work on my house. And these are all highly recommended and certainly not cheap companies. In fact, I'm sure the owners would have appreciated it had I micromanaged their workers. (Like a "painter" not bothering to open the windows when painting windows on the outside and the still not only be half painted but all windows painted shut. The company owner was mortified and furious. Or roofers not bothering to cover up the outside faucets before removing the heavy cedar shingles despite my telling them. Well, yes, one faucet broke off; again, an unhappy roof company owner.) Greenhaven, what tiles are these? Comments (18)Technically this can be done. They would have to remove everything up to the point where you say "Start again here" and then start relaying the planks. You will still have as much as 10% waste. With "almost one full box" of left over, I don't think you have enough left over to do this without having to purchase more of the same....and then you have to worry about dye lots, etc. The 10% waste/loss is a low number. If you have 300sf of flooring, you will loose 30-50sf. If you have 600sf of flooring, you will loose 60 -90sf. I doubt if "almost one full box" will get you the waste you need. Good luck....See MoreLooking for pics of large rooms with 1/3 offset brick tile layout
Comments (4)I was thinking about stacked but we did that for the shower wall and want to mix it up. To each their own. I really like natural products and don't like how LVP is basically just plastic. We brought home a few samples but both agreed that we wanted to go with tile. Wood was also considered but we want something that will perform better with water since this room will have a small kitchen bar and we'll be bringing in wet sports equipment. Practically speaking, we will cover a lot of the floor with area rugs so I'm not too worried about the difference on our bodies. Mainly keen right now to see any pictures of a large room where they go with a 1/3 brick offset pattern. I'm normally pretty good at finding pics online but I'm coming up empty....See MoreTC Hudson
