Rift sawn white oak cabinets
Comments (7)You can see the color and grain difference along with finish more easily by looking at flooring sites. The color is not yellow. More pale with light browns without as pronounced open grain. Can be cerused. Rift or quartersawn is not necessary to avoid the open grain. You could still use it for the visual effect. https://floorzz.com/products/fabrica-french-oak-plank-bastille https://www.homedepot.com/p/Malibu-Wide-Plank-French-Oak-La-Playa-1-2-in-Thick-x-7-1-2-in-Wide-x-Varying-Length-Engineered-Hardwood-Flooring-23-32-sq-ft-case-HDMRTG265EF/308037923 https://www.calibamboo.com/product-sauvignon-engineered-oak-light-brown-wood-floors-7601002101.html Possible source for lumber. https://www.woodco.com/products/select-french-white-oak-lumber/...See MoreRift sawn white oak cabinets pulling orange after clear coat
Comments (35)I think it looks awesome! It might not be exactly what you thought, but I think it may be a happy mistake. I gives a little contrast to the floor and a nice back drop for the island. I do agree with Anna - change that trim around the base of the island. That light color will look a mess in a very short time. Assuming you are trying to cover a gap, see if you can get a scribe molding or shoe molding. This looks like a quarter round. . Enjoy!...See MoreFloors for rift cut white oak cabinets
Comments (12)The first issue is actually NOT the floor. Your inspo is probably a factory created cabinet. By nature a more consistent finish ......call this current "internet lust" and much more difficult to achieve in a local cabinet shop. Far more difficult, where pieces and parts may indeed take stain differently. I'd be very certain, with a LOT of sampling testing from that shop, well in advance - before I tackled the flooring selection. Truthfully - your best solution may be a white oak sanded on site floor, stained only when you know the final finish of those cabinets, and even stained, AFTER the cabinetry is installed. https://www.houzz.com/discussions/5983411/help-wrong-finish-on-white-oak-cabinet https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6230815/how-to-keep-natural-white-oak-color-on-cabinets The floor below was pre existing, and the kitchen redone, new island years after. Floor is engineered , long discontinued, but it took quite a few trip/tests to the shop to get what my client wanted. Minwax.........one coat......nothing atop it. Comments (11)Thanks, all. Conestoga doesn't do frameless, so they are out, amongst other reasons about their business workings, which I won't delve into but have made the news. H202, I suppose that is true in some situations, but there is no way standard dimensions can work for us without filler strips in many different locations. Raimondi and HU*, Doesn't sound like you are particularly familiar with the RTA market. Maybe true for 85% of the places, but there are some well produced cabinets coming out of places like barker, scherrs, conestoga - just have to find the right place. Millworkman - not necessarily. Cheap shops, yes, but the upper end RTA mfg's will go to 1/8" or 1/4" increments in multiple directions. Filler strips aren't going to work well in this situation... definitely need a mfg that can get to the nearest 1/4"....See MoreUser
