Sources for basic white hex tile? glazed vs unglazed?
Comments (5)Hi Blue! I was in the Daltile showroom yesterday looking for 2-inch unglazed hex. I was told that the unglazed is available in 1-inch and 2-inch but the 2-inch is special order as is any color but white. I seem to remember several colors were available but the lead time was approximately 6 weeks. Back when I thought I might want glazed tiles I bookmarked a couple of sites. They both appear to have white hex in matte or shiny glaze. The second one has 2-inch in a pretty blue glaze. I know nothing about these sources but they might be a place to start. Sorry, I can't seem to figure out how to post a link. tile-shop(dot)com(slash)products(slash)hex(slash)hex(dot)html angelfire(dot)com(slash)az(slash)tile(slash)mosaics(slash)hexagon(dot)html Good luck....See MoreSuggestion for mosaic glass decorative tile???
Comments (5)JDez--thanks for the info--I looked at that site and we did like the "Bliss" mosaic-- Googled it to see if could find maybe local (DFW TX) source but nothing readily apparent-- also found another mfg on other site that seems to make the same color/blend of Anatolia's Bliss--$1 cheaper-- that is available from PA not AL--AL is closer to the FL house needing renno think I will order sheet for sample-- Looked at Cooltiles and also ModWalls--I have been there before but the color/blend link requires Flash to operate and I am using IPad--so couldn't work anything out thanks for your help-- any comments on whether or not to just ignore the flooring and not try to blend any of the brown tones into other aspects of room? Was on Houzz last night looking for wood floors/bathrooms and there are many examples where people don't pull any of that tone into what is going on in the room...some I liked and some I didn't--just like anything else you might see looking at rooms......See MoreWWYD - Mosaic tile accents?
Comments (30)mrspete, if I do the wall behind the tub or the wall at the end of the tub, it will be clearly visible when you enter the room. The vanity wall is on the same wall as the entry door, so not so much. And I do want the tile to make a statement, but not be overwhelming, and not look like we were just trying to "fit it in" somewhere. Its a tough line to walk, for sure, and I am not the artistic type so I have a great deal of difficulty visualizing things. BTW, this tile is $45 a sq ft I think, not cheap but a lot less than some similar mosaics I saw and liked that were $100 +. Nevertheless, given that I seem to have very expensive taste, budget may be a factor. nancyinmich, your comments really have me thinking. You sound like you definitely have a good sense of design! I will see if I can do a mock up somehow to see how it looks. But I'm really not sure about the backsplash, only because I want the counter and backsplash to be easy to keep clean. The uneven texture of the mosaic and all that grout gives me the hebejebees. And I somehow feel like it would be better viewed from a distance. FYI, I am planning on wall mounted faucets. More $$$4 ;-)....See MoreWhite honed floor tile for bathroom?
