Seeking Recommendations for Outdoor Fans (standing ones)
Comments (0)I want to get a standing outdoor fan for our backyard. It will cool us during the summer, blow away mosquitos and gnats, and blow away our neighbor's cigar smoke which seems to always make a direct line for our outdoor dining table. I haven't been able to find many reviews online. Amazon has the most. Many of the models are misting - which sounds like a reasonable idea in theory - but reading the reviews closely indicates that for many, these really just wet everything in front of them - and I don't want to just soak cushions and people. Anyone here have experience with the misting ones? If not, I might avoid the potential drawbacks and get a regular outdoor-rated fan. I'd like variable speed settings, relatively quiet, stable so wind doesn't blow it over. The prices seem to range from just under $100 to many hundreds. Any advice is appreciated. If there's a more appropriate forum to post this on, please let me know. Thank you. Lynn....See MoreRecommend a bright ceiling fan?
Comments (25)blgamett I recommend you take a look at Hansen Wholesale. Their website is by far the best I've used if you're trying to find a fan that meets a specific set of requirements. You can filter fans by type of light kit, and then sort the results by price and/or light output. Hopefully you can find something that provides adequate light that still like the look of. They have pretty much all the major showroom brands in their catalog. Look for a fan with a large motor (188mm or above) or a DC motor for the best airflow. As for noise levels, Casablanca's non-DC fans tend to be quieter than other manufacturers' non-DC fans, although a DC fan from any manufacturer will be extremely quiet....See MorePlease recommend an attic fan/ventilator.
Comments (7)I would not put a powered vent fan in the attic. If you are going to do it put in the whirly bird type you may require more than one depending how big the attic is. The whirly birds last for a long time it will spin on it's own due to natural venting. Doesn't require power. They are SILENT. If you live in a hot climate such as Katy, Texas the powered fan will just burn up, you could create more problems than you solve like putting the home under negative pressure as an example....See MoreRecommend a ceiling fan please
