We just purchased a log home and I’m struggling on what to do with the kitchen. We are having the pine floors refinished right now to remove the white wash/grey worn look (photo included) but the kitchen has me stumped. I want to modernize the home overall and plan to remove the trim/molding on the cabinets and have them refinished to get rid of the rustic look, but i cant decide on cabinet color and countertops. I keep gravitating towards soapstone countertops but dont want the overall look to be too dark.

What would you do to modernize this kitchen?
