My recollection is that whether the electric plan is included in a designer's plans is very regional. It certainly isn't the norm here. Electrical design has a relatively small impact on total cost of the house. And upgrades can be charged fairly easily and fairly. For example - can lights $80 each, an extra outlet $50 or whatever. So there isn't any great urgency to spell out everything before bid. Is it better to spell everything out - sure. But there are already too many decisions to make and most have a lot more to do with bottom line than the electrical plan. Now you can have 10 $1000 chandeliers or 2 $200 ones and sure that is a big difference. But that is more of a lighting fixture choice issue. 10 chandeliers would certainly not be the norm.... Rough electrical runs $4 a sqft in my part of the world and even with a lot of add ons, it would be hard to get past $5. So you are looking at less than 1% of total cost as far as variability. And you save nothing by specing out an outlet in your master closet at design stage vs later (I guess depending on how your contract is set up).

I wouldn't sweat it too much. Things like dimmer switches and leds are things that you don't really have to worry about until the house is sheetrocked and painted. As long as the cans the electrician installs are compatible with leds. Why exactly do you want rope lighting for under the counters? Rope lighting is very dated and splicing the rope lighting when sections go out is not easy because the twist on spliced are no longer ul listed. It's much more efficient and easier to use fluorescents or led under counter lights, and they come in a variety of lengths. As long as you communicate with your electrician during the wiring process, all of your needs should be met. Electrical plans are never right in my experience. Switch locations never work, lighting isn't drawn to scale, rooms are not framed to specs, recessed lighting falls out on ceiceiling Joyce's, etc, etc....

It's really impossible for anyone to take the time to analyze and critique your power and signal plan. That would take hours and require a detailed knowledge of your design and how you prefer to live. As for lighting, I've said this before and I'll say it again: a creative and responsive lighting plan blends together three types of lighting--ambient, task and feature or accent lighting. In many public spaces a combination of two or all three of these types is the ideal solution. That said, to analyze your lighting needs requires a good sense of your furnishing plan, and your living preferences. If you are really unsure about this, you need an experienced architect, interior designer or lighting engineer. Good luck!

I was hell bent on keeping any and all electrical outlets from interrupting my kitchen backsplash, so we wired for undercabinet outlet strips. It's all good, except they mounted the strips right up against the bottom of the cabinet. So any plug that's bigger than 'standard' can't plug in because the plug overhangs the outlet strip and hits the cabinet. So my Alexa or Google Home can't plug in my kitchen outlets. Which is where I use the dang things! I'm sure they can be moved, but I'm not sure how easily.
