Design Dilemma Paint

paint color to match antique brown floor

Hi floors were just stained antique brown. I would like a nice white paint to match. The whole house would be painted this color. Currently I have honey oak kitchen cabinets (renovation won’t be until a few more years). Need a color that would also flow with cabinets in the meantime. Kitchen has tile floor for now, but in future we plan to put down the same antique brown wood floors. I included pictures of floor, cabinets and a coffee table that I will use in the family room (couch is a creamy white beige). Thanks for your help.

I meant to add that I like painters white and smoke white by Behr

So with a white wall the best white is what works with your rugs and furnishings. Any white will work with wood - not a problem there. Where things tend to look ‘off’ is when white walls mismatch with the furnishings and decor. So please post photos of those and we can help you avoid a white that is either too cool or too yellow or too….etc.

Beautiful home. Agree with chloebud -- shutters are not a good fit for this house. Perhaps you could repurpose them for a back yard garden DIY project? You might consider a dark CA redwood brown for the painted surfaces. orPaint the trim around the door a nice crisp white (use a semi gloss enamel like BM Advance.) Paint the window and trim in the same white. paint your door black or Iron Ore. remove that valance. Replace the cabinet hardware to a matte black or a brushed nickel. try Pale oak on the walls, and two of these others for the trim/door color or for under the window you could do a built in bench against that wall (see pic,,,ignore the L shape. you would just do the single bench against the wall) and find a rectangle table to push up next to the bench. add two chairs for the other side

@nuppal I still like the gray better… Especially in light of your countertops and the fireplace… And I looked up your color on Pinterest and I saw that color walls with different colored wood floors and I thought it looked nice. But as another poster said it’s all a personal preference. I personally don’t like beige walls so I guess I’m biased! Haha But the new house we’re building has wood floors and gray walls and is the Joanna Gaines type style… And its similar to yours and that we have the white quartz countertops with the gray marbling and I have white cabinets in my kitchen and white builtins in my living room. Most of our walls are gray… Different shades of gray (Mostly with blue undertones because that’s what I like).

New seconhand chairs appear more yellow in my kitchen and should I paint them brown or gray or what should I do to make them less yellow. I don't want them white as I have almond cabinets but maybe an off white. What colors and technique do people recomend?

So creamy white sofa can be interpreted a couple of different ways - and if you post a photo of it with a blank sheet of white paper we can get a sense of which direction the white should go.

The best way to select a white is IN your space with your natural lighting. No matter the selection, it will appear differently in different rooms and ON different walls depending exposures, no matter which white it is..

I would try the Navajo White.......it will acknowledge the warmth of other elements in the room, and will do it without the "yellow"

What is the existing wall color you have behind the sofa? SW Shoji white might be perfect but I’d like to know what’s there for reference.

Not sure of the existing white that’s on our apartment walls. I will try to find out but it’s definitely a bright pure flat white.
