Please help! Choose a paint color for the exterior of my home.
Please help me pick a color...... I know "ouch" it hurts your eyes.
The home was built in 1995 and is contemporary on the interior.
Set in Vermont on a heavily wooded piece of land.
Large open front yard with a centerpiece maple.
The exterior is wood siding.
Roof is bronze (dark brown).
Unfortunately, we can not afford to change out the windows so they will remain white. The windows can not be painted.
The front stairs will be replaced and stained to match the back deck (no clue what color).
For the foundation, we will most likely go with a faux stone.
Landscaping is a minimal option as there is a stone wall to one side (right) and the left has a planting area, however, that is where the snow falls from the roof and piles up throughout the winter.
I appreciate all advise and input.

Comments (8)The advice I have seen would be similar to this: the garage should not be the focal point but rather, should blend in. So you would select a color that would cause it to disappear against the siding material. The front door should be highlighted either with color or interesting features such as attractive planters, lighting, etc. Pretty sure most advice would call for selecting one “visually heavy” material (either brick or stone) but not both. And I believe they would recommend not having the stone facade run up toward the roof of just one area (because it’s a visually heavy or grounded material it should stay low to the ground). Comments (39)Sorry, just cannot understand the all-out negative attitude on painted brick. Yes, certainly older (and some newer) brick is quite lovely and shouldn't be painted, but hasn't anyone seen the hideous beige/brown or pink/brown brick? Some brick just isn't pretty, people! Lots of houses, at least in the South, from the 60s and 70s had that yucky brick, and they can really be brought into the 21st century with paint. Comments (1)I have removed all shrubs in the front. The front door is set back and hard to see but same stain as the shutters. And the stone is the same on both sides of the garage. I have no idea of paint colors and was wondering if i should do a trim contrast? For the thin veneer foundation stone, you are living in the right state! Check out some of your local stone yards for Vermont limestone. Lots, and lots of colors. For instance, if you painted the house blue:
