easier way to find late bloomers
Comments (12)Try Woodside nursery, you can click on late and it will show you 20 pages of late bloomers, they send very nice plants, great people to deal with. Nice selection and this is Darryl App's last season selling DL's from woodside, so you can only order untill the end of July, I think. One of my favorite late bloomers is El Desperado. I believe the popular Primal Scream is a late bloomer too. Don't have it, but its gorgeous. Waiting for the price to come down on that one. I find Ollalie to be a bit expensive, and they mostly have older varieties, but everyone has different taste. Hope this helps! Comments (9)I had the same situation as sarabera with my 15yr.old cat. High blood pressure med has turned him around greatly. He's def. not a kitten anymore but he has energy, transitioned to a litter box last year (is an outside/inside, always went out to do his business but needs the litter box overnight). He jumps, he plays with toys, he runs through the house. Sometimes I tell him, "Slow down! You'll hurt yourself!". lol He never used a litter box in his life but when he started to pee on the bathroom rugs I just put the rug in the litter box and kept cutting it in smaller and smaller pieces until I removed the rug altogether. I use The Worlds' Best Cat Litter. No odor, clumps amazingly, but does track some. I scoop out the box as soon as I notice it having been used. But unless I keep the box pretty much full of the litter, he will use the cotton rug it sits on. (box sits on a small cotton rug, which in turn sits on a half folded vinyl tablecloth). I think it's because he doesn't like to step up and then down into the litter box. Not sure if it's preference or maybe the action cause some discomfort. Also the vinyl tablecloth will catch any litter thrown out that the rug doesn't catch and also if he (or the other cat) sits too close to the edge of the box and poop drops to the floor. I take everything up in the morning and only put the box back out in the evening or when I know I'll be gone several or more hours. He does pee often but much less since the BP med. Perhaps I'll only have a couple more years with him but like the OP says I try to make his life as easy as possible....See Morehow do you make it easier for your AC unit?
Comments (19)When I was young, the only a/c that we experienced was at the movie theater. I believe that is why my father insisted on the drive-in instead. As I have aged, I find that I am less tolerant of the heat. The thermostat is set at 76 during the day and sometimes that seems warm to me. I can fix that by removing some of my clothes (shades are down, thank you). At night, I need to wrap myself in the blanket, almost mummy-like. Ceiling fan is operating and the programmable thermostat kicks in about 11:00 (when the price of electricity is much less) and it cools the house to 68. Rarely during the day with the a/c come on. The house (walls, carpet, ceiling) have chilled during the night and all will be OK. We cook mid-day and evening meals on the grill, thus not much heat is created in the kitchen. The other day, I did a bunch of canning and that heated the kitchen (good bye clothes), but the other end of the house was still cool. Jim...See MoreRecent big box finds?
Comments (27)Lowe's has some great clearance items. Depending on location, there are some very good finds. I have two $1.00 clearance finds, still going strong. Dracaena Dorado - has grown almost 8 or so inches in a year and a half with the right light, and will need potting up soon. My guess is a foot and a half tall now. I really want it to be a tree one day! Dracaena Janet Craig, just last week - still diminutive, but only one bad leaf when I bought her! Otherwise, pretty flawless. I don't even know why the plant was on clearance, but hey, more for me! I almost broke down and bought a bird's nest fern, but this one will definitely do. Same upright growth pattern, less maintenance....See MoreFunkyart
