Comments (10)Thanks everyone for the nice comments. I knew you all would understand! LOL Jeanne, that bluish thing is a crystal-ish swan with 2 cygnets - here's a close-up. It'll be great as a topper. Altho I hate to say it but I don't think I have much, if any, blue glass left. Might have to wait and see what next yard sales bring. Comments (16)As sunlight supplement CFL are great. Without sunlight light quality becomes an issue. With enough quantity the quality issue can be partially overcome but I for one notice that some plants that just sit there under a 42W CFL and just start to come alive under 85W CFL do better than under either under a 60W incandescent. Even though the CFL are rated at 4x the incandescent efficiency the light is not as nutricious (hows that for technical Clara?). Wonderlite combines an unknown number of incandescent watts (probably more than 75 but less than 100) with a mercury vapor HID. The mercury vapor is more efficient than CFL and the incandescent is less efficient than CFL. Does it balance out i.e. is a Wonderlite as efficient as a CFL? I don't know. I suspect not quite. Iff value is not considered, the 125W CFL in the premium reflector is a very nice light but the Wonderlite doesn't need a reflector (its built in). It uses more watts than the 125W to give perhaps the same amount of actual lumens perhaps less but some plants will grow better under the Wonderlite. The Wonderlite is very, very hot and cannot be used very close without extensive acclimatization. It works best at a distance where it can light a wide area with medium low intensity. The CFL can be used much closer, much, much closer. Maybe the ideal basement setup has both kinds of light working together? H...See MoreEpiphyllum bloom spike + Big Box finds
Comments (13)odyssey, it's in Oxford Valley, Pennsylvania! like half an hour outside Philadelphia. never seen anything like it around here! Nil13, yes I knew that! haha, the second picture is what confused me as it's round rather than flat and scalloped like the stems. does the second picture look like a bloom spike, or am I getting ahead of myself?...See MoreHas anyone had recent experience with GrowBox planters?
