Another bloom on SARATOGA SPRINGTIME yesterday. I din't even bother to take a picture of it as it was down on the ground on the worlds shortest scape, just like the other shot. I also had a bloom on COUNT IT ALL JOY which is one of the 2009 intros of Karol Emmerich. Its one of these sort of counts scapes as the scape was there but much smaller of course when it arrived. That one I did take a picture of but my pictures from yesterday are not downloaded yet.

Thanks everyone! Julia - I bought it from Critter Creek Farm, which is zone 8, one zone warmer than mine. It didn't grow very well when I got it (all the other ones I got from them did fine). It's doing a lot better now - it's got 2 new fans. shive - in the photos I've seen of Visual Intrigue, it varies a lot. I hope it has this kind of eye often. The bluish part actually looked a little metallic. I read somewhere that it needs below 65° nights for this to happen. Juliet

Thanks! She is registered as an extra early opener, and that she is. I found two others that have scapes as well, a new one this year I got from a Southern grower called 'Just A Tease' and one I got last year called 'Laughing Clown', registered as early. I have 'Ornamental Focus', which is also an extra early bloomer, but have yet to see scapes on that one. Hopefully this year it'll pop some out. I'm excited that daylily season is starting and hopeful to see blooms on the ones I got last year that didn't bloom. And until the daylilies get into full swing, I have my other flowers to keep me happy. Karen

The computer is cooperating this morning, so here's 'Fairy Tale Pink' FFO at the new house: I've been working at my blank slate, starting around the deck. I had several dozen plants from the old house to get in the ground, so as things bloom some daylilies might be shuffled around: I finally got the seedlings planted, too: This fall we'll be having the retaining wall at the front of the house rebuilt (properly - it was several courses higher than it is now, and leaning outward at 92+ degrees, in danger of falling on the gas meter; the lazy bums who built it didn't install any drainage behind the wall at all). It will be lower, and farther out from the house, enclosing a much bigger planting space. Next year, I have PLANS for all that lovely space, lol. Hope you enjoyed the tour! Laurel
