Thanks, Jan! I just snapped a couple additional photos showing the area at the front entry in relation to the front hallway where the runner is + a length shot of the runner. I measured from the door to the wall where the hallway starts and it’s 72 in. The length of the door across (not counting the molding on the sides) is 36 in. exactly. And the widest I could probably go without interfering with the air vent is 48 in. But i’m afraid to get one too big so that its too close to the hallway runner. shouldn’t there be some space? what’s the recommendation there? I also measured the width of the hallway and it’s 43.5 in. Given those measurements, do you have a suggestion on which entry rug and runner sizes would work best? Thank you!

We are building a home with a foyer that is 17.5 feet long and 8.5 feet wide with 11 foot tray ceiling running the same length. We want a runner but wonder if we should save room for an entry mat at the double front doors. Also, we don't know how wide or long the runner should be, whether WITH an entry mat or WITHOUT one. You really don’t need all that beautiful flooring covered..only front door area...leave hallway along stairway empty and add your decor...maybe a cute slender bench with a basket for umbrellas...I don’t have one hallway rug...only placed a rug at each door entrance and have a huge dog running around..have wood floors throughout my home first home 23 years floors still looked like new..and this home 5 years..no wear at all...why Do you feel the need to cover the beautiful wood floor?

I like the idea of a jute rug but I'd look at something that blends in more with the floor so it won't take away from your cool looking wallpaper. Here's one in navy from Amazon although I'm sure there are many places to find similar.
