We've used the Kirkland brand for years. It has recently changed somewhat, but not enough to make me buy anything else. The Charmin is too thick for me.

Kirkland wipes out the competitors and all we use unless Costco is out of stock and then we buy the Charmin. No real difference I've ever noticed but the kirkland rolls are bigger around than Charmin and are tight on the TP holder. Any thing else cheaper and the fingers go right through.

What I want to know is how women with long finger nails can even wipe.

Charmin. Never had a problem, although we have a powerful flushometer toilet. Our bathroom is tiny with no countertop, so the toilet paper is also for wiping noses and make-up removal. Charmin is nice and soft.

Charmin only. Never had a clogging problem. Many years ago when we were on a septic system, I was advised to use only Charmin because it is septic safe. And personally, I like the thickness of it. And the softness. Requires fewer sheets per use.

We use both. My husband likes Charmin and I prefer Kirkland, so Charmin is stocked in the bathroom he uses most often.

Septic here; don't use either now - I've switched to bamboo TP. It's supposed to be more ecologically friendly and is septic safe. I LOVE this company - no plastic wrapping and the rolls are pretty enough to be displayed near the toilet so guests can find them:

We got a big multi pack of what ever it is we use a couple of years ago during the pandemic. Some sort of store brand similar to Kirkland. About that time we got bidet additions for the toilets. They go under the seat held on by the seat connectors. We still have the same unopened package of toilet paper never having made it through the last of the old one. We use washcloths to dry, I get bundles of those from Costco, changed daily. Our well water makes for a "refreshing" rinse after toileting. Toileting is a word I learned from my stay at the Care center with my broken leg.

I find it weird that I care, but I prefer cottonelle to kirkland and charmin is a non starter for me.

Kirkland here, too, and Cottonelle if I should happen to run out of the former. Hate the Charmin ads, and did the comparing early on, of wetting different kinds of TP and seeing how Charmin stayed its ugly self without disintigrating as a proper paper should when wet.

I really wish they would put the name, and specific name, on the roll! You get to the end of a roll and think ”I want to get that kind again.” or ”I don’t want to get one again.” But if you have ”decanted” all rolls in the package to various bathrooms in the house, and the wrapper is gone, there’s no way to know. Even if you always get the same brand, there’s all the variations within the brand! How expensive is it to print the name on the cardboard roll?

My brother bought Trader Joe's brand, and I don't remember what we had before that. We always make sure it is made with recycled paper.

I don't know what we have in Cathedral City, since I'm not there right now. We are not brand loyal.

Since I greatly reduced the sugar in my diet, I find it doesn't matter.

I have used Charmin before, and it was fine - soft and strong. Now, though, I use a recycled (Who Gives a Crap) or bamboo (Roll Up) toilet paper. WGAC has stopped delivering to Canada, but I'm anxiously waiting for them to find a way to start again.

I don't use either, because they don't sell them here. But I dislike the really thick puffy toilet papers.

I get my toilet rolls from an Australian company called Who Gives a Crap, which makes toilet rolls and facial tissues from either recycled paper or bamboo fibre, so they are more environmentally friendly. They ship them to you in boxes of 48, so it's means fewer trips to the shops, and half of their profits go to building toilets in third world villages that don't have facilities.

Funny story- just before the Covid pandemic started. a first time customer put "48" in her online order, thinking that she was ordering 48 rolls. She got 48 boxes! Since we had drastic toilet paper shortages when the pandemic got going due to people panic buying before going into lockdown (it was unbelievable- entire aisles in the supermarkets were empty for weeks and when there were supplies there were strict limits on the number you could purchase) I guess she may have made out like a bandit selling the excess rolls :-)

I used to use Kirkland TP and paper towels up until midway thru the pandemic. The quality has declined significantly. The TP is now super dusty and less sheets per roll. The paper towels are not absorbent at all. I’ve been buying Charmin since then. I have Bounty towels right now but I like BJs towels too.

Charmin soft user here. Just bought the Kirkland brand because Charmin wasnt on sale…we can't wait to finish the Kirkland. it's dusty and definitely not very soft.

The Bounty paper towels at Costco annoy me. "Longer sheets." Um, if I wanted longer sheets I wouldn't be buying select-a-size!!!

We don't have Costco near us, we use Member's Mark TP and prefer it over the narrower rolls of Charmin. Beginning to question whether the Sam's Club membership is even worth it anymore though...seems that Sam's Club is going down hill and a lot of our staple items are no longer available OR are no savings over buying at a regular grocery store. I think $100 a year just to buy MM TP is kind of pricey...HAHA!

Quilted Northern here. Our septic service guy told us he uses Charmin and that if you check the label most brands are septic safe. I dislike Charmin. Too "linty".

Reminder: The only things that should go into a toilet bowl are body waste and toilet paper. NOT Kleenex. NOT the falsely-advertised product called 'Flushable Wipes'.

I once caught a house cleaner dumping the contents of a wastebasket into the toilet. I had been guilty of disposing of Kleenex there until I saw the 'no-no' on the Kleenex box. (It's on the flap you tear off before using the product.)

The paper towels are not absorbent at all.

I've never had a problem with Kirkland paper towels. Been buying them for years.

Brawny is the only paper towel I have used for decades. None measure up to me and I can get the ones with sheets divided by 4 so not as much waste.

I buy Charmin soft for me and Charmin strong for my husband…

We are on septic so don't opt for the super plush TP. Like chisue said, our motto here is "other than tp, if you didn't eat it or drink it, don't flush it."

I buy Cottonelle. But I buy WAY less than I used to, since I installed bidets on every toilet in the house. They were around 40 bucks apiece, easy to install myself and I highly recommend.

Where did you find $40 bidets? Do they use heated water? They would be great to have in case of TP shortage in the future.

These are the ones I got. It appears that they are cheaper now then when I bought them. Rude.

These do not have heated water. There are some that do, but you have to run the water line to the hot water under your sink, and that would not have been practical in any of our bathrooms.

I might develop chronic constipation if what followed each toilet session were jets of cold water on the bum.

One way to wake you up! Hm. I imagine it wouldn't be super cold if you haven't flushed recently. If my toilets were plumbed warm like my sister's I might consider them. They look like a nice, simple unit.

FWIW, I do not consider the water "cold" in my experience. Its probably slightly cooler than room temperature. But temperature tolerance does differ among individuals. Some are daintier than others. It was just a suggestion.

I just cannot fathom using a bidet! First of all the cold water would be too much for me to stand, secondly, how can a stream of water get anything back there all that clean, and then do you have to towel off your rear end? No thank you! OH and what if it missed and a jet of water went blasting to the ceiling or worse, in your hair? I think of all the negatives...HEEHEE!

We have used Kirkland for years but bought a pack of Charmin at Costco several months ago because it was on sale so decided to try it. Definitely have to use less, and we did have one near miss clog issue. I find both Kirkland and Charmin are dusty. Will go back to Kirkland when this pack of Charmin is done.

On my landlord forum there was a big shout out to not allow the bidet conversion kits. A plumber posted he's getting a massive amount of calls for flooding, where the water won't shut off or is stuck on.

I once tried Scott toilet paper, advertised as 1,000 sheets per roll and kind to your plumbing.. However, I discovered that you need a dozen squares of this thin 'newsprint' textured paper per use. Anti-clog? When there's a whole yard of it in the bowl?

A bidet is useful if it has warm water -- a separate little 'wash bowl' for just one section of the anatomy, along with it's separate wash cloth and towel.

Kirkland. I'll buy the Charmin if Costco sells out of their brand but that's rare.

If you think North American toilet paper is thick, go to Europe. Theirs is like paper towel thick and you use WAY less of it.

this is why I RARELY post here. someone ALWAYS has to be the "smart" person. It's not like nobody else "generalizes" anything ffs!

I was simply pointing out that although some (not to generalise) Americans refer to 'Europe' as if it were one homogenous entity, it is not. It is quite insulting when our diverse and distinctive cultures are all lumped in together. I don't think that asking for a little educated courtesy is being 'smart'.

This all started with the ridiculous topic of toilet paper, but my point is serious.
