How would you add more flooring to already installed hardwood?
Comments (1)You have to remove some of the installed pieces to get the "fingers" to overlap. Consider having them put in cheap vinyl and carpet and do ALL the hardwood yourselves. It might be easier....See MoreAnyone add MORE granite to their kitchen to match existing stone?
Comments (10)We, however, were not that lucky. We updated our island w/ ?juparana bordeaux granite in 2002. Then in 2007, we did the perimeter w/ another company. But it wasn't the company, it was what slabs were available. There were 2 types of the same granite available: 1 was a shade too light (more sandy) and the other was a shade darker (more red/bordeaux). We mistakenly chose the darker one. Instead we should have chosen something completely different to make it like we purposely went for a 'furniture' or distinct look instead of looking like we goofed. When we went to sell the house, several people commented about the mismatch. The final buyer were just happy to have granite slabs instead of old laminate (like in the other potential houses they were looking at). good luck. Comments (14)I would get a narrow kitchen cart to act as extra storage and counter between the stove and the doorway -- you should be able to get one that's 12 inches or so and fits right in there. Then move the trash. Alternatively, a narrow table of the same height, and keep the trash underneath. This one looks like the perfect dimensions -- at least, it's 10.5" wide: https://www.houzz.com/products/dark-espresso-linea-kitchen-cart-with-chrome-accent-prvw-vr~8778226...See MoreSmall kitchen / need storage! Add more cabinets or leave it more open?
Comments (20)Update: it's done! I love how it turned out. Ikea didn't carry the same cabinets that we used on the other side of the kitchen so we went with plain white and matched the handles. The kitchen somehow feels bigger now! We get our new marble quartz counters next week. Exciting. The next project is -- should I put a chalkboard or whiteboard or something on the white fridge panel? It feels like it could use some of my kids' artwork or something homey and creative...See MoreElaine Doremus Resumes Written
