Wait for replacement and take chances on the 3 big risks
Add double island
Add second lower tier and retrofit the cabinetry for supports
Choose a different larger stone

New neighbor cut my vines on fence too short....
Comments (6)The vines are not massive and unruly since they are in heavy shade for 45 years or longer. How can the vines not be massive and unruly if they are over 45 years old? I am severely allergic to Carolina jasmine, even though I love the flowers and their fragrance. Not only am I allergic to the flowers, but I am also allergic to the mold that grows on the dead parts of the vines - I cannot go anywhere near those vines without a horrible attack of hay fever. You could easily be wrong about who the inconsiderate party is. If you had a tangerine tree overhanging into my yard, that would be a different story. I used to get tangerines from my neighbors in Venice, and they would get figs from my tree that shaded part of their patio. It's a good thing they liked figs, however, as they can be very messy. I think you are best growing vines on a trellis that is placed in front of your wall, so that the vines do not grow over it. I consider Carolina jasmine a pest, no matter how much I want to love it....See Morecabinets cut too short for range
Comments (9)I dont think a drop in range will help. They are designed for 35-36+ leg height. With 3cm counters becoming the standard (and thicker flooring products), I have felt for a long time, that the appliance manufacturers should design more tolerance in the appliance. I know most would gripe less about a quarter inch off the floor, alot less than they do about a quarter inch off the countertop. The days of 1 1/2 thick countertops, and linoleum are long gone.. 3/4 inch wood floors, and tile floors with tile underlayment pretty much rule the kitchen anymore.. I have homeowners that get pretty disgusted with me when I continually ask them how thick is the flooring going to be. They think that its not important at this time, or they havent made the decision yet, but when you are deciding how tall your pantries and uppers should be, it needs to be factored in early.. As to your problem Paul... The only way to rectify it, is to take out the countertops, and raise the cabinets to the appropriate level.. Or, you could just elevate the countertops with a 2x4 off of the cabinets, and apply a trim piece, but this would be a band aid IMHO.....See MoreWhat Do You Have Too Much Of, & Why Do You Have It?
Comments (89)So many people with issues with parents...sad. I was loved, I had toys and gifts, dresses, dolls, books, sport stuff, games,I lacked for nothing . But as I got older, I think I tried to "recapture" my childhood. As an adult, I loved antique shows, flea markets, garage sales. Any time I saw something we had in our house growing up, I had to buy it. I even bought too many rose bushes and planted them in my garden, trying to re-create my Grandma's rose garden. I now have a linen closet stacked with doilies and tablecloths I'll never use, sets of fancy glasses too fragile to use, things like that. Oh, and on the funny side, my daughter cleaned out my bathroom just yesterday. She found eleven bottles of Listerine. I don't know, I hate the stuff, it burns... I remember buying one bottle because it did everything, whitens teeth, freshens breath, makes gums healthy, strengthens the enamel. I'm just always looking for something to make me happy....See More[Newbie] I think I cut the stem too short for propagation :(
Comments (5)No problem with your cutting have a small stem. Just lay it on top of your potting mix - after callusing a bit. I don't water until I see new growth or roots, so I sometimes only wait a day before "planting" on dry mix. This one is sitting atop the potting mix. It's a bit further down in the pot than I like, but I was afraid it would fall out. And here is why I was afraid it would tumble out of the pot. Short stem! As you can see, it is rooting just fine. So now I'll leave it alone for a month or two. Yours will do just fine. ;-)...See MoreJoseph Corlett, LLC
