Is anyone else’s community having a food drive via post office or postal delivery person?

We plan to participate and fill a large brown paper grocery bag (better double it) and leave it by our mailbox.

I am curious if the USPS chooses a single day for all locations or mixes it up. I’m trying to think of more items to give. I’d give peanut butter but my plastic jar is already opened and the caution against glass jars so that rules out jarred spaghetti sauce.

Thus far I am planning to include Tuna (the specified in water), chicken, pasta, mayo, maybe cooking oil, Canned tomatoes, canned beans, soups, ?Sardines? —

A friend who used to vounteer cook at a soup kitchen told me that the needful don’t tend to ”cook” meals so would be unlikely to use or want my extra spices.

Anyone else doing this (this month)? I’d welcome more suggestions. Thanks.

PS Most of the pantry items we have on hand are for using in meals, not for dinners per se.
