Hall bath reveal
Comments (26)We remodeled our bathroom with an initial quote of $17,000 for tear out and disposal of old fixtures and flooring, new travertine tile with Installation over heated floor, travertine baseboard with a 36" tiled wet area on the wall in tub space only. The existing separate shower retained exact footprint. We redid the walls in composite granite slab from a company whose initials are GT, install plumbing fixtures that we purchased and finally new frameless glass shower surround and door. We purchased or hired other services on our own: Pedestal tub, plumbing fixtures, sinks, granite tops, painter for existing cabinets, plus 4 end panels, new knobs, wallpaper removal, wall paint and painter, frames for mirrors over vanities, comfort height toilet, lighting fixtures and all decorations including drapes. All of this came to another $11,000. We could have done it more cost effectively, we didn't set out to spend this much. We were shocked at prices even with not even getting close to top of the line products though we did get some splurge items such as the tub and floor. The sky's the limit in prices these days. We saved money where we could. When there are two vanities, there's two of everything which adds up. The biggest expense was the flooring, followed by the pedestal tub and stand alone British tub faucet and the frameless glass shower enclosure. We did it over a two year time frame after the initial necessities and hard surfaces were in and finally just recently put up drapes after nearly 6 years! I cringe to think we spent $28K on a bathroom redo that didn't even include changing the floor plan or new cabinets....See MoreBarker Cabinet - clear coat finish
Comments (23)pseudochef, It is hard to get a good representation of what the insides look like with the lighting in my kitchen but here is what I was able to get with my iphone of the only cabinet left empty: The inside is their standard maple finished plywood and the shelves and cabinet box are banded in whatever wood you get for the doors The right side of the cabinet in the second picture is one of Barker's finished end pieces. They have them in the slab style that we bought as well as a style that looks like a cabinet door. On the left side of that cabinet is one of their filler strips and under it is their light valance. If you are going to use their valance make sure you order too much, I ordered just enough and now have to wait for another piece to finish my last cabinet like grlwprls said the drawers boxes are top notch. The dove tail is tight and sanded smooth and the blum glides are awesome. So easy to put in and I can't stop playing with the soft close. According to their site they just recently upgraded the drawer glides to blum's top of the line. We got the standard baltic plywood drawer boxes. If you get the clear coat, like we did, they will come coated like the rest of the cabinet. Definitely don't hesitate to email Chad, he is great, I must have sent him 30 emails over the last two months and he never seem to get annoyed. KBSpider; we were going to do maple as well and that is the sample cabinet we ordered, but decided to go a bit darker. Definitely don't regret the decision. Comments (101)Hi jaluca, welcome! The floors are just a shade over 5" wide, they are all one width. DH and I had decided on random widths and when I went into the reclaimed flooring place I changed my mind at the last moment and went with all 5". I think both would have looked great, but I'm very pleased with the 5". We have a water-based finish on the floor. We opted not to go with a more typical oil-based finished in part for environmental reasons (and to reduce odour) but also because oil finished tend to yellow the hardwood and I loved the blonde/light brown colours in the birch. Hope this helps, let me know if you need any other info....See MoreModern Kitchen and More Reveal - Before and After
Comments (87)Weird - I didn't even notice that the number of pictures went way down. It's very good information for anyone doing a reveal thread who enjoys before/after pictures. All the pics are copyright (me), not anyone's site. With the laundry room we're caught between a rock and a hard place. It's in the garage right now, a long trek from anywhere and it's complicated but there are water/drain/dryer vent issues that cannot be reconciled at that location. To move the washer/dryer to the area with three bedrooms we would completely lose a bedroom or bathroom. We no longer plan on having it directly off the master bedroom, however by process of elimination it will either be off the master bathroom or (large) master closet. Luckily both areas are ideal in terms of utilities/venting and where laundry is generated, and they're reasonably easy to access from the other three bedrooms. Wish we could have a dedicated laundry room but the floorplan of the house pretty much eliminates that possibility....See MoreF. P. Green
