Comments (8)They make some support things that you stick in the ground that are half circles. My wife uses them for her gladiolus. If you were to take 2 of these and create a full circle, they'd make a good support. Or, a more primative approach would be to stick 4 stakes or bamboo sticks in the ground, and span some twine between them. Just don't use any string or wire that would cut into the stems. Here is a link to the half circle supports I was talking about. We got ours at a big box store, but I figured I post this link so you know what I'm talking about. http://www.gardeners.com/Jardin-Half-Round-Flower-Supports/FlowerGardening_New,39-523RS,default,cp.html?utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=Google&utm_term=jardin_plant_support&SC=XNET8019&gclid=CLHsnpanjKoCFYZrKgodYi8yzg You can also do a google search of "jardin plant support". Comments (7)How about Dahlias? Mine are blooming great at this time of year. There are pure white flowering varieties as well as many other solid and mixed colors. The foliage is usually a dark green shade. They last about 4 days in water. You could also look for white Lisianthus, mine is still blooming at this time of year. (Just search Google images for white Lisianthus for photos.) White chrysanthemums should also be readily available this time of year. For greenery you might look for Euonymus kiautschovica 'Manhattan': or Euonymus japonicus 'Silver King' which has green and white variegated foliage: Ornamental grasses (Miscanthus, etc.) are very nice (and very tall) to use too and at this time of year they should be starting to bloom as well. Some cut flower growers raise a plant for cutting that is similar to Queen Anne's lace called Ammi. I've grown it but I thought it smelled too bad to use in cut arrangements. ;( Perhaps you could use it if the arrangement is only viewed from a distance. Another nice lacey plant that you could look for is called Trachelium. It's available in white as well as several other colors including violet, mauve, pink and blue. I grew a dark violet shade this season called Black Knight which is still blooming although the flower heads have gotten smaller and the stems thinner as the season has progressed....See MoreNeed Backsplash Ideas - chocolate cabs, dark green granite
Comments (21)This is where Oceanside sells odd lots online. They have 217 tiles in Cane Iridescent in a 3 x 6 tile. It is in a different shape, called "lune" (probably because its profile resembles a crescent moon). The center of each tile pillows out from the wall, making a ridged pattern. These tiles are half price, $1.49 each. Since they are not even offered in a 3 x 6 size, they must have been a special order. They also have 125 of 3 x 9 flat cane iridescent tiles for $3.49 each (reg $8). If you like tiny half-inch mosaics, they have 45 sheets of a color called "canary" that looks a golden pearl color for $19.99 per 12.75" sheet. There are sheets of Cane in 1 x 1 mosaics in iridescent, non-iridescent, and matte for $17.99 sq ft, too. Comments (13)My DH loves BM Antique Jade. It's a shade darker than the Thornton Sage I used throughout my house. I was afraid the Jade would be too dark in foyer (small sidelights) and stairwell/hallway, but he might have been right. Maybe we'll paint everything that color in a few years (spent over $6000 painting interior of the house this past year)....See More- 3 years ago
