Susan, I just read an article about southern Oregon and the cartels Pot growers used to be locals who cared about the water and environment. Then we had to Mexican cartels and the danger level soared. Now, we have Chinese and Baltic country cartels taking over. Basically using slave labor and threatening anyone who tries to leave and following through, these are not nice people. They are everywhere, taking over land and water and these are ruthless greedy cartels Why does it continue? Not nearly enough agents to clear them out and it is like playing Whac a mole. There seems to be no end in sight to the illegal drug trade and trust me, pot is only one of many drugs travelling in to our valley. If I was younger I would move somewhere else but at this age starting all over sounds top daunting.

@DDinSB (Z10b Coastal CA) Here is a pic of my Stephen Rulo before he gets the top chopped off. Look down to see the small shoot that's emerging... that's Stephen. The rest is the multiflora understock, which will be cut off right above the shoot Here is Oksana, a budded maiden I received a year ago. Look down at the base, and you'll see an old cut-off stem, which was the understock I cut off. And here is one of the Westminster Pinks I sent budwood to Steve for, and received a year ago. It's pretty easy to see where the understock was cut off. I just trimmed this one a couple of days ago Hope this helps you picture budded maidens! (as always, click on the pics to enlarge)

wow, GRF is getting quite the great reputation around here. I just got a fantastic bare root own root Plum Perfect from Witherspoon (just came like 2 hours ago). Nice roots, etc. I tried to order from Grace Rose Farm - until I learned that most of their stuff is grafted on Dr. Huey - which us south florida, nematode infested rose growers cannot cannot cannot do. Sigh. They are working toward own root for the future, so maybe next year.... Amazing that they are giving you TWICE the order. That's just fantastic.

i received GRF refund and was satisfied. GRF legal Case w/ M. was dismissed by Grace, I see on her request form above posted. . Therefore, no oroof of any wrong doing by either party. Best not to continue to claim “dismissed allegations“ or opinions. From my experience , GRF own root roses season 2024 were possibly damaged due to “surprise Polar Blast freeze March whole week 2024, “ no fault to anyone, may have happened in transit or at GRF.which had some growth damaged leaves & black canes resulting. I had same damage to some of my roses on property that freeze week, too as did many people across the nation. It only takes several hours for a small own-root 6” rose to have frost burn on canes or root damage which later turns into dried leaves & black canes. Then GRF tried to grow them to recover which resulted in unforseen delays. Then the own-root roses were damaged again sometimes when shipped in later hotter June for me & hot weather shipping for others with wilted dried leaves. They were small own-roots roses. My GRF rose was about 6 inches tall, Notting Hill rose. My rose did not survive the shipping and GRF refunded me. It was a series of unfortunate events. GRF is an innovative rose farm & florist with many positive possibilities. Francis is the largest grower in the western hemisphere with a good reputation. . I would wish all nurseries well!
