my 7 yr old cat just up and died. so sad
Comments (31)Condolences to you and your family, and to fourkids4us, whose thread we followed, though never commented. We have 4 indoor cats, plus we are caretakers for an outside feral colony. All the indoor girls and boy are still young, no older than 4, but the outside crew vary, and we've lost some of them in the past year. Not easy even when they are the "wild" ones. I also agree with dlm2000 that it might be helpful to get some opinion from the vet as to possible causes. It may make the loss easier for the kids to take, if they feel they have an understanding of "why?"...See MoreMy Cat Just Had A Violent Seizure
Comments (6)if he's dehydrated, you can take a syringe (or a turkey baster? don't fill all the way) without the needle & slowly give him water with it. You can do this several times a day. Or give him wet food. We take wet food & make 'soup' for our cats. Put half a can of wet food in bowl, add hot water, mush it around. The 'gravy' canned foods work best for it. They love it & it ups their water intake. If you lightly pinch up the skin on his neck & it stays up when you let go, he's dehydrated & needs more water. Good luck, it's hard when they're sick esp. when funds are limited. If it gets worse & you have to see the vet, tell them funds are limited & you need to be conservative on tests etc. If you have a good vet, they will work with you. Hope this improves & good luck job hunting too. edit to add -a turkey baster would prob. work as well as a syringe This post was edited by jomuir on Mon, May 13, 13 at 13:31...See Morejust spayed my cat, now she is crazy!! - please help
Comments (7)Wow! That is definitely odd behavior! Is it possible that she was pregnant when she was spayed? When I was a child that happened to my sisters cat, and I know it threw that normally sweet cat out of whack for a while. Nothing as overt or aggressive as your describing, but it was a definite mood change. Interseting that she's only showing the aggression to your husband. Perhaps a male vet or vet tech frightened her before the surgery, and she's associating men with that kind of pain/disruption? In the short term, maybe try something like Rescue Remedy in her water, or Feliway on her favorite areas -- or even something of his. Maybe if she begins to associate that calming feeling with his scent, she'll get over the urge to gut him! Good luck; sounds like it's pretty unsettling for all of you....See MoreMy cat just turned on my dryer!
Comments (17)colleenoz, the poor thing was just lonely. You had the poor thing worried to death. You were supposed to CALL when you arrived! My brother (YEARS ago now) called me and asked if I had been to his place over the previous week and of course I hadn't. He was sure I had been there since the TV was on when he got home and couldn't figure it out. He blamed me for it for months. Then one day he was napping on the couch, turned off the TV, dropped the remote on the floor, as always, and kicked back to snooze. Well it only took about 30 seconds and the one cat jumped down from the chair and walked to the remote and started pushing his paw down on the buttons. After about 5-6 pushes, CLICK, the TV turned on, the cat walked back to the chair, hopped up and watched the rest of Grizzley Adams! My old partner's would keep a small electric blanket on the chair for use while reading and TV watching. They kept coming home to it being on and blamed each other until they saw the cat hop up, push the button and curl up on the blanket....See Morelily316
