Thanks for asking. We were lucky in the southeastern part of the state not to have any tornadoes. There was hail in the county just to the west of us and in the county northeast of us, but all we got here was some rain, and not really much of that. The central part of the state had some TERRIBLE damage, though! Sherry

Thank you all for the well wishes. This working nights gets in the way of a lot of things, and that was the delay in my checking in...That and a new system and a secretary who decided to take off, so I had a brand new system I had to work with (which I actually kind of liked when I got used to it) and I had to do the secretaries job as well as mine to do. I had no spare time for quite a while there. Eighteen years is long enough to work nights. Rita, I've always lived where there was a tornado "season". The closest I have actually been to one was one block...Plenty close enough. Friday night there were three people killed by the storm that had passed south of to us...It did only tree and power line damage here (I wish it had blown a few more limbs out of the big oak tree in back). The town where it hit is only 50 miles from us. Another one hit in Tuscaloosa which is much closer, so it was not a good night, but we were truly blessed. kay

Water tables in some of the south make basements very uncommon, if not impossible. I lived in or near the Mississippi Delta region my entire life except university and recently. I have been within 200 yards of three tornadoes. The first was when I was a baby so I don’t remember it and have only heard tales of my father, who was at work, climbing over trees blocking the road to check on us. The second was when I lived in Little Rock and hit my neighborhood about a few blocks from us. That was a bad one, trees down blocking most streets and no electricity for days. However, the only damage to my house was a few shutters. Thankfully, the only direct hit was an EF 0 and probably off the ground by the time it hit our house. No warnings on that one, and we left the house for vacation before daylight that morning and didn’t even know about it until later in the day when our housekeeper called.

Thanks guys! We are fine. Tornados did do significant damage 20 miles from us. Thanks for asking. Ready for these spring tornado storms to end-too many close ones this year. Fortunately no loss of life in these. Property can be rebuilt. Lots of cleanup today in that area but they still had school as no schools were damaged!!
