I had a pair of Thermador Columns installed in December (30" Fridge, 30" Freezer). I love them. I had a hard time deciding between the above set vs. 27" pair from SubZero. So far, everything has worked perfectly and I'm very happy with my decision. My final deciding points were: For about 20% less money I could get 25% more storage. (The 27" SubZeros were about 25% more money compared to the 30"), and I had room for either. I LOVED the way the doors on the Thermadors swung fully to the outside of the fridge, rather than staying within the front of the fridge. Opening is so much wider feeling. As for now living with it, here are some thoughts on concerns others have brought up: I'm 5/2" and have no complaints about the top shelves. They are high, but I prefer that to stooping over for lower stuff. And the drawers are great! And I like the shallow shelves, with deeper door stuff because no more lost stuff in the back of the fridge. The doors hold ALL the condiment type stuff and the rest is wide open for large jugs of milk, juice, and everything else! One of the comments I get most when people look inside is: WOW, you can see EVERYTHING at a glance! It all seems to be at eye level and just item or two deep. No more hidden leftovers & stuff. The shelves are still deep enough to hold two gallons of milk, one in front of the other, as well as my big huge serving platter, cookie sheets, and pizza boxes. So no need for the shelves to be any deeper for me. I love the ice bucket location. Open the door and it's right at waist/chest level. Perfect. As I said before - no regrets so far!

No no no no moebus. Miele and Gaggenau did not partner to build a Turkish fridge factory. That was totally a Bosch mothership decision ! Miele came to them hat in hand so to speak asking them to build a unit to spec so that they didn't get shut out of or left behind in one of their largest markets - the USA. Miele had no U.S. fridge offering and there was no way they were going to be able to peddle one of their midget euro offerings from Liebherr here nor did getting a local manuf. to build one make much sense. Gaggenau refrigeration was simply along for the ride on deal. The first units to be sold in the USA out of that plant were labeled with the Thermador badge and BSH heavily promoted the "Freedom" collection before releasing the other brands. Units labeled Bosch were offered for a while , but never sold well and were mostly scrapped. I think they still sell a 30" model on that platform. Gaggenau was bringing up the rear on their rollout. The Miele models were even later to arrive stateside and feature some parts that are shipped from Miele Germany to Turkey to be integrated into the base platform before being boxed up. BSH is climbing a slippery slope if the think they are going to sell a made in China built in fridge here for close to ten grand.

Hi Folks I know it was literally years ago but I just wanted to chime in and say what a great discussion thread this is/was. So many claims are made by sellers and "makers" - for what it's worth, I am going the opposite direction with my project for our own home. I am building new doors that will look like 1930's commercial chiller units, with big hinges and handles as well as adding several personal touches to the whole lot, like refashioned Chrysler wings emblems etc . The two fridges I am using are a liebherr wine/freezer unit and a Jenn Air Alaska model - see attached link and click on AA kitchen project .... might cause some heart palpitations for some, but perhaps a smile for others. BTW In one of my designs I overcame the issues around the toe kick by replacing the floor under the fridge with an insect proof perforated metal grill ... still strong enough to take the fridge and enabled cool air to vent up from the underfloor. Doing a fridge/freezer combo shouldn’t be any more complicated than doing all fridge/all freezer columns. In any case, it’s a bit of a hassle to deal with at this point, but it will be worth it in the end. If you don’t care for the builtin look, I guarantee it will bug you after it’s installed. It’s a completely different look. You will be kicking yourself and wishing you had taken the little bit of extra time and effort to find and work with another cabinet company.
