Need help with french doors or windows
Comments (33)Update... nothing decided. I haven't found any Okna or Sunrise dealers in SE Oklahoma. I found two companies a couple of hours away. One sells Simonton and Softlite and another sells Hurd and Kolbe. I do not want wood windows. Frankly, most people where I live buy from HD or L's. I will NOT buy from them. Pella, Anderson, and Jenn Weld are sold, but I am not happy with their products. Tulsa, Oklahoma has a thermal window manufacturing company that makes aluminum thermally broken windows. I like the weight of their sliding glass doors and double hung windows. I also like that I have more viewing glass. Vinyl windows have better energy efficiency though. The biggest issue is not letting summer heat in. Two months of $450.00 electric bills is way too expensive in July and August. Vinyl windows are looking better for that reason. But, realistically, will I see that much difference in the electric bill during the hottest months if I go with vinyl windows? Another issue...I live a couple of hours away from ANY window dealer. I can't get companies to do installation for just one window and one sliding glass door. That is unrealistic to ask them to drive that far. So this means I will not have any "qualified" installers. I will have to find someone who can do framing and installation. Not so easy to find someone around here. That would also cut my warranty in half since I am not using the company's installers. So either thermal broken aluminum or vinyl windows like Champion, Pella, Anderson with local installers? Thermal broken aluminum window 4'x3'= $248.64 ($485.98 if installed.) Thermal broken sliding glass door $1020.00. I am leaning towards the aluminum because they sell a lot of them, more viewing glass, local company. Thoughts? Here is a link that might be useful: Thermal Windows...See MoreWhere can I buy a 48" double french door (24" each) Exterior
Comments (7)if this is a front door, Mrs Pete is right, not a good idea. If this is a rear or side door, a 48" french door is fine - we have had this size opening to our rear deck for years and never have had a problem going in or out. As for cost, just go online and search, or go visit your local big box store or lumberyard. By the way, all-wood doors are not necessarily inferior to metal clad, especially if there is an overhang/roof protecting the doors from rain and weather....See MoreDown to the Ge cafe double ovens French door or the Bosch benchmark He
Comments (9)I have no idea what your question is but I will assume you are debating between the Bosch Benchmark Side Opening Oven versus the GE French Door oven. I just finished a remodel and I considered the side opening oven as well as French door models. As I recall, the least expensive French Door model was the GC Cafe and it was a tad more expensive than the Bosch Benchmark Side Opening Oven. I went with the Bosch Side Opening oven because I liked having one door that swing all the way to the side and therefore I could stand in front of the oven and not have any obstruction at all in terms of the landing spot on the counter next to the oven. The French Door ovens definitely have a coolness factor in terms of "looks" since everyone can tell you have a French door oven while most people have no idea that you have a super functional side door oven. In terms of comparing ergonomic functionality, there is NO COMPARISON between side opening or French door ovens and standard bottom opening ovens since you can stand directly in front of the oven versus having to stand at the side to load and unload. When I was buying my oven, Bosch was the only side opening oven but my friend who is now in the market for ovens told me that Thermador has a model which is slightly more expensive than the equivalent Bosch. I believe Thermador is a sister company of Bosch....See MoreHelp! What color for these double French doors?
Comments (15)Beautiful rooms, love the doors. If you plan on carrying the blue of the island throughout, it would make the doors the focal pt. Agree with what was said above, highlight or blend? Would your sofas be from Ballard - I've been looking at theirs with the tufted back....See MorePPF.
