Does this look OK or ----
Comments (16)Gotta throw my monkey wrench in the whirling machine engine!!! Since the pieces are identicle I would have attached them at the corner creating a closed corner. I also agree with the use of post holes and quickcrete. To me they would look better sunk half way down thus repurposing a bed to look like a wooden corner fence. A sign with brass house address numbers would be an excellent addition on one side. The other side could have your last name done in brass letters on a sign. Both signs should face the street. This would cause the corner fence to have two purposes, 1. A corner border to the garden and 2. a marker for your house numbers. I know you will really enjoy that planting space. Lucky you!!!!! Have fun....See MoreDay 26 of renovation. Does it look OK to you?
Comments (5)Thanks. I didn't do a soil test. Is it too late to add amendments? It gets sun mostly in the morning and late afternoon. During the middle of the day there is some shade from surrounding trees. Those pictures were all taken early in the morning before the sun was up over the trees....See MoreKitchen will be painted tomorrow-- does this look OK (pics)
Comments (13)(I also posted this over on the Kitchens Forum -- not sure where you spend more time.) While I am a h-u-g-e sucker for sheer grey-blue (given my use of it in my own kitchen), I am really, really concerned it will a) clash with your beautiful slate island or b) come off as too matchy-matchy with your island. (I'm not a fan of cutesy.) I'd rather see you go in a totally different direction, which I think you already did (with the yellow), and I happen to really like the yellow. I love how the yellow(s) you have (kind of like pale butter, right?) picks up on the warmth of the wood without being all "hellooo! look at me!" while making complete and perfect sense with the depth and tone of the island's slate blue. I really see the yellow as being a good supporting player to the elements you've pictured. It's not my kitchen, but I'm leaning toward the darker (left) yellow....See More5-1-1 does this look ok to you?
Comments (6)Your soil looks like one of my batches did. I was told the particles should have been closer to the same size than I had. The plant I had in it was ok. I found some smaller rock at the dollar store of all places that comes in two sizes. One barely smaller than your rock, and one about half the size. It was not a problem for that plant, however I do believe the soils with more consistent sizes was better for how it behaved for me when watered. It's so challenging to get all those supplies, and I know how much time and effort it takes. It's great you are learning about Als recipes. I think most of us have had to settle for less than perfect supplies as it's difficult to find all the ingredients. Good job. Hope it goes great....See Morenjmomma
