There was a house like this in Indianapolis that painted the trim primarily burgundy, with accents in orange and red. Sounds awful but was actually beautiful. It looked like something from a fairytale.

What a charming house! Glad you’re not considering painting the brick. However, it can be gently power washed if you haven’t done that. Make sure you have a professional who knows how to retain the integrity of the mortar when they do it.

Look at deep burgundy paints for the window trims and door. Or navy blue. Leaving the stucco a complementary cream sounds right.

Green usually looks nice with this brick, it will have to be saturated enough to stand up to the relatively strong brick color.

How about power washing the brick and sidewalks first. And then take another picture on a nice, sunny day. I think you may be very happy with your place once it has been cleaned. It is a gorgeous place and I'd hate to see too many changes. Good Luck with your project.

@ptreckel I love the sage green idea! The previous owners painted a green around the sunroom and rear exterior doors which I like the look of. Sage would be so pretty with the cream stucco!

Lovely home. You might want to have an arborist take a look at the tree to the left of the front door. Is it a holly? I think removing it would open up your home and avoid potential foundation trouble.

@latifolia it is a holly and is coming out this spring! I'll be replacing it with a soft-serve false cypress and some other evergreens or perennials. Something with less height that still offers some privacy - our neighbor's driveway is very close.

I love this green with brick and IMO would work well with the style you have. hard to say much about the landscaping at this time of year . Not sure how much privacy is required for a driveway.

There’s a white clapboard siding version of your home in my neighborhood that we (unsuccessfully) tried to buy. Great home—there was a Sears or similar kit home in the 20s in this style.

Some other neighbors recently painted new trim colors that transformed their stucco cottage/tudor revival— this picture doesn’t do them justice, and it’s not all that different from what you already have going on— but it’s a great combo of green, burgundy, and yellow that I think would work well on your home, too. Good luck!

Argh- because the color combo is not too clear in picture I posted above: (1) window sashes/muntins are all yellow (similar to yellow on your house); (2) trim color (I.e. outer trim around windows, eaves, etc) is a green khaki color; and (3) storm windows/doors are burgundy…it’s a surprisingly great combo!

I lived in a historic district and the city historic commission issued guidelines advising against pressure or power washing brick. It is not just the mortar - brick is a soft material and can easily get blasted even by the lightest pressure setting. Sure, anyone who pressure washes homes for a living will tell you otherwise because it is how they make their money. But our general contractor, who worked almost exclusively on brick homes, had his guys up on a ladder scrubbing the bricks with a brush and cleaning solution. It was gentle yet very effective in removing dirt and stains.

I like the idea of green trim, darker than sage but not as dark as the current green trim. This is a mock up of Farrow and Ball Hay, Blue Grey, and Treron.

Color can be over rated. Texture is important.

Hello! I’m excited to find this post. Your house is quite literally the only one on the internet that i can find with both yellow brick and also stucco. We are getting ready to paint ours. Did you come up with a color scheme?

I hope you nixed the power wash idea after @Kendrah gave us a heads up about potentially doing damage to the mortar.

Maybe someone can do a mock up before you actually paint a new color combination. Your brick is so unique and the suggestions all sound viable. Just love your sweet home!
