Need help with exterior colors for mock Tudor home with yellow brick.
Comments (4)are you open to repainting the brick or does it have to stay yellow? If that's the natural color, fine (I thought it was already painted). perhaps a good power washing would help brighten it up a bit. I love the leaded windows off to the right. don't ever change those! normally the stucco portion is light and dark contrasting color goes on the wood trim&shutters. if you could do the brick in a dark gray, you could do something like this (except I'd pick a darker trim color.)...See MoreHelp with Tudor style exterior color renovation
Comments (16)I have a different take on this house. I find the 2 tudor peaks odd. There is no other Tudor detail anywhere else on the front of the house and while the peaks are the same shape, they have different detailing. I would change this so that the peaks look exactly the same, maybe adding a window to the left side. I would replace the Tudor details with decorative siding and paint the same colour as the trim. As for painting the brick, I would start by painting all the trim a lighter colour (including the peaks) then see how it looks. This is a very pretty house and would look better in a light colour. But because it's a big decision, perhaps go in stages and leave the decision to paint the brick to the very last. Good luck!...See MoreTudor Exterior Color Help!!!
Comments (21)nice! what you can do is do the Carriage Hardware (Amazon) to the doors. It's cheap and easy and adds character. And when it comes time to paint, just paint the doors a darker color. I like the first combo (first pic) showing the Gray siding above the garage doors. I think that darker color would look nice w/the brick. I also think removing the faux tudor trim and modernizing the exterior would be your best bet. keep in mind, your brick has Mauve and Taupe tones to it, nothing in the yellow scheme is going to look right! those whites I gave you in the one pic are all pink (or actually red) undertones and should be the right color. Ditto w/the grays. you want more taupe grays rather than blue grays or yellow grays. start looking at pictures of split-level redo's , or whatever year this home was built, look at rehab exteriors. the two links I posted should also give you some help on how to modernize. it's really hard to see this house in your pics because of the overgrown foliage. I'm sure landscaping is on your 'to-do' list too!...See Morehelp with updating our Tudor exterior
Comments (45)We choose a lighter colored roof for our Tudor style home. A simple google search "tudor house with light colored roof " will reveal many beautiful examples of how a lighter roof can update the look of a Tudor. It is of course a matter of personal taste, and there are many opinions, but there are no hard and fast "rules" about how this style home should look. BTW Zinc strips are commonly used in the pacific northwest on roofs and regardless of what the article says, they are effective at retarding moss damage to a roof. They are not easily visible and especially not on an elevation like that shown here....See MoreMeaghan M
