Have I killed Annie's wonderful Salsa? Plz help!
Comments (7)If your canner is a Presto then spend the $12-15 to buy the 3 weight set. That way you don't have to worry about getting the gauge tested and can just ignore it. The weight set is discussed here in many threads. If another brand with a gauge then you may be forced to have your gauge tested regularly to be safe. But I am more concerned about your inability to control the stove heat and prevent the radical pressure changes that causes the siphoning. Is the stove gas or electric? It does take some practice sessions with the canner and just some jars of water in it but it shouldn't be that difficult to control your pressure. All the way on until your t10 min. of continuous venting is done, then put the weight on and as soon as the pressure gauge reaches 11 bls., slowly begin to reduce the heat in small increments. Hope this helps. Dave PS: As to the "cool air on the jars" bit - yes, instructions say to "not expose them in a draft to cool" but they do need to be out of the canner and on to the kitchen counter. ;)...See MoreInspired by The Vivienne Files ... and thank you AnnieD!
Comments (56)The vivienne files has a lovely aqua and black capsule wardrobe, Maire cate! I am decidedly not a size zero, so you may well be Impressed at the number of garments in the bag :-) I am not a roller, I tried that method once or twice and it was a hot mess to get things out--- any time you want an item you have to completely unpack and repack. If I am staying in a hotel longer than one night I unpack almost completely, hanging everything and putting other things in drawers. But I usually use the packing cube thingies from Eagle Creek and ebags. I will use a medium or large zippered packing bag for all my slacks, another for all the tops, a small cylindrical one for undies and socks, another for scarves, etc. that way when I want a shirt I can just take that cube out and not disturb everything else. I put these cubes in drawers as is unless something would benefit for being hung up. Alternatively, if we are going on a trip requiring a lot of dressing up, I will pack complete outfits individually in those space bag thingies. That way I have not only the clothes, but the stockings, shoes, jewelry, any special underwear, etc. in one package. Those are the bags you ziplock and then roll it up to,squeeze all the air out, then unroll it to lie very flat. It's amazing how unwrinkled clothes are when packed in those space bags!...See MoreI received a surcie! Thank you Annie!
Comments (13)Darn it, Rob, I forgot the potatoes! (grin) Actually, I've been putting that box together for a while and it was Cathy (mustangs) who gave me your address. I got the Cream Nut peanut butter and the Sanders topping, then I thought it needed maple syrup. So I got some and then I decided to add the salsa and then I had to wait for ripe habaneros to make the Habanero Gold and, well, I got busy and.....well.....it took a lot longer than I had envisioned, LOL. Arlene, I still have maple syrup for your DH too, my life has gone nuts lately, but I've got it, really I do. Robin, I'm glad I could provide a smile, so many here have done the same for me that it's good to be able to pay it forward a little bit. Hug that little guy for me. Comments (1)LOL, Stacie, my first royalty!!! I'm glad it went over so well and that you made a few sales of the stuff. See, now maybe you'll get a craft show "circuit" started and I'll be rich and famous without doing a lick of the actual work myself. Yeah, that would be good... Annie...See MoreLars
