Look What Annie Sent Me!

Things have been a little rough lately, and I'm slower than molasses posting this, but I wanted everyone to know about Annie's lovely package.

Maple Cream. How can I do justice to the wonders of maple cream? I'm a fan of all things maple but never had tasted this luscious temptation. I think I've found a new "addiction."

I haven't had an opportunity to study the cookbook as thoroughly as I'd like, but what I've seen looks wonderful. Villegas is very much a locavore and I'm all for that, though the odds of finding Michigan white shrimp here are pretty slim.

But speaking of maple recipes . . . lots of them. Right now on this dreary day I'm looking at Maple Planked Breast of Chicken with Tomato Horseradish Rub and Mixed Vegetables.

Also tempting is Grilled Romaine Salad with Smoked Tomatoes, Maytag Blue and Maple Spiced Nuts. I can't wait for the garden.

So thank you again, Annie. Your gift couldn't have come at a better time.

Carol I hope you will post recipes of whatever you make,cause the salad and chicken sound scrummy!

I have never heard of maple cream, you will have to tell us more about it.

Annie is quite generous! Kevin and I are very much enjoying the maple syrup she sent us. I haven't had time to do elaborate recipes with it yet, but I will get to that in time.

Luvs, I'm glad you are so happy with the goodies. Its fun to shop for both of us, as we are so much alike. I like the idea of those silly sheep as pillows. They crack me up. I'd found them on Etsy, set of 4, and just knew that I had to share with you. Punk we do 'know' each other. We met on Garden Junk years ago, and then came here. We have long emailed one another off the Forums and found we have soooo much in common! ha ha Annie that one is about as good as my comment on your 'more pictures from Tennessee' thread heh heh I got the second package today - Boo saw that I like using paper plates for our outdoor grilling/dining because we have no dishwasher (yet) downstairs. Wow. That platter! Wow. Fabulous. I really like Rick Bayless' books, every recipe of his that I've tried has been consistently yummy. And I think that the tupperware containers are great! Ever since I've done battle with Rubbermaid about some melted lids (it seems that one set of their microwave safe containers have lids that aren't microwave safe) I've been on the look out for "reliable" storage. You are so welcome Donna! We found out that we live about 30 miles or so from each other! Some people think Crocs are ugly so the little flowers make them cuter! LOL They are named "Croc-a-doodle-doo-dads"....Flamingo named them! LOL And she doesn't even have a pair of crocs and won't get some!

Carol, I just knew when you said you'd never had maple cream, that it was the perfect surprise. I love the stuff, on hot scones, on pancakes, even just on toast. Of course, I never met anything with maple I DIDN'T like.

I hope the cookbook gives you a smile or two. I'm sure you could use Oregon shrimp instead, LOL, but check out the nachos topped with fruit and fudge!

I do hope things are getting a bit more "boring" for you. Chin up, my friend.

Whenever I stayed at my grandparents' home over night as a kid, my grandmother would serve me a simple, but very delicious, treat for breakfast. She would halve an orange and section it as you would a grapefruit, then top the halves with maple syrup. The flavor combination is very, very good.
