Look What My Great Friend Sent Me!!!

What a NICE surprise when I opened a package that came from my really good friend Mike!! He sent me a VERY Beautiful and Large crassula ovata "Red Horn Tree" rooted Jade. I cannot tell you how excited I was when I saw it...isn't it gorgeous!!!

Thank you so much Mike for your extremely kind and very generous gift!! I will cherish it :o)

Stepfix: We have a large nopal plant in a big pot. We rooted a pad bought in a Mexican food market. You can let the cut place on a pad callus over and then root it like any other cactus. If it is upright, the roots will form on the cut end. If it is lying on its side, roots will form on the underneath side of it, and after that, it will make pads in the normal pattern, but take longer to really do anything. We rooted this pad almost exactly 2 years ago and have already been enjoying eating some of the tender new pads it has made. The older pads have grown enormous and tough!

Luvs, I'm glad you are so happy with the goodies. Its fun to shop for both of us, as we are so much alike. I like the idea of those silly sheep as pillows. They crack me up. I'd found them on Etsy, set of 4, and just knew that I had to share with you. Punk we do 'know' each other. We met on Garden Junk years ago, and then came here. We have long emailed one another off the Forums and found we have soooo much in common! Then when she got to visit me during a motorhome trip, for an afternoon of shopping at the huge antique mall, we just had a blast and it felt like we'd been friends forever. hugs, Karen

How nice of your friend to send you all that yarn, would make beautiful scarfs, you could use small scraps to tie onto tags, or use in altered art project, just in case you didnt have enough ideas LOL! oddie

Mike finds the most unusual plants; you're so lucky he sent you a cutting/plant..
I say plant because of its size. Large for cutting. :)

A year or so back, I searched 'everywhere' for Red Horn, but they're unavailable. So, you really lucked out.

How red does Red Horn get, and what time of year do leaves change color?

Your Jade has red hues now, but I assume it'll turn deeper red, right?

Laura, He probably does, but if pug doesn't forward it, I make an Awesome banana bread and chocolate zucchini bread that I know would earn me some points. LOL!

Wow, now that is a very fine specimen! :-D
I agree, Mike is a true gentleman. I came home last night to find a box with a 'Blue Heaven' Orchid inside!
The majority of my rare or large-sized Jade plants have come from Mike. Oh, and a few special plants from
other kind GardenWeb members, whom I won't name ;-)

Toni, indeed, that's a rooted 'Red Horn Tree' Jade. I can't wait to see these coloring up!

Toni, since its a very new variety of Jade to me I have NO idea first hand just how colorful this one will get in my FL winter? I have seen pictures on the internet of some very beautiful and colorful ones, reminds me of what a 'Red Horn Tree' hummel hobbit Jade would look like and maybe that's what this might be? Although the plant the way it is right now, I am very happy with it. I'll definitely update on its progress. Mike does have a lot of some of the rarest plants in his collection.
