I received a surcie! Thank you Annie!

When I got home after a really rough day yesterday, there it was. First, I looked to make sure it really was for me since I share the house in which I live. And then I saw the name, but it was real name I've only seen a couple of times, so it was vaguely familiar. But the address, that I knew! I only know one person from there ;) As I hefted the box to hug it, I thought, hm, heavy. Wonder if it is filled with potatoes?

I cannot post pictures for now as I have lost the ability. I have a picture and I may figure out how later on, but for now all I can tell you is it was fantastic. Very Michigan. It had Maple syrup from Michigan, dried Michigan cherries, Michigan peanut butter, hm, I can't remember, where the hot fudge sauce was from, but wherever it is from it looked mighty tasty. Her salsa, made by HER! totally cool! and I really had to laugh at myself when I knew it was "Linda's" pepper jelly. Or at least likley the recipe I have seen a million times. A perfection of the Cooking Forum and Annie box. so sweet and so special. Thank you. I needed it more than you know. But the funny thing is, I have eaten at least two bags of chips and a couple of jars of salsa in the past month. Me, who never eats chips, two bags. I thought I wasn't getting enough, but truth is, it just wasn't right. Not hitting the spot.

I feel sated today. (((Annie))) (we hug a lot in the south).

Lilo, Fortunately posting on the GP is free so I hope you'll fill in here with what was left out of your interviews as time and memories allow. The newsclips I suppose were necessary as it put the stories in context for younger folks but I felt a little shortchanged with the women's interviews. They were so touching...and all the women seemed so strong and resilient like yourself and your sister (I liked particularly her comments on looking forward and the Amnesty International programs. I am still so surprised and thrilled with my gifts from Marigene. Last night I read the book a little more and the recipes and tips for decorating are very good! Some of the tips are....DUH, why didn't I think of that! The instruction on creating windowpanes is so easy and logical and I can't wait to try making Windowpane cookies. Thanks again Marigene!!!! I left off Vietnamese cinnamon. I have always wondered if it was noticeably better than the rest, and yup. As soon as I opened it, wow! Fantastic.

And the hot fudge sauce is from Michigan, Sanders Co.

Robin, I'm glad that Annie sent you a Michigan box, we take our goodies seriously here.

The Sanders Hot Fudge is a very special item with a lot of Detroit history behind it. I grew up in the Detroit area and at one time Sanders had a chain of stores. They had a lunch counter and an area for buying baked goods, boxed dipped candies and several types of ice cream sauce. There was also a freezer that held their excellent ice cream too. My DM and I would always find an excuse to go to Sanders where we had a Hot Fudge Ice Cream Puff, if nothing else. Those were the days....
The stores are all gone but a few of their special items are still being made.

That Michigan syrup is to die for! Nancy sent me some last fall.....and I have been ordering it ever since.
But I'll bet the pepper jelly is annie's own habanero gold...with onions and apricots....mine has just peppers.
Enjoy....it'll take the top of your head off....in a GOOD way of course!!

Darn it, Rob, I forgot the potatoes! (grin)

Actually, I've been putting that box together for a while and it was Cathy (mustangs) who gave me your address. I got the Cream Nut peanut butter and the Sanders topping, then I thought it needed maple syrup. So I got some and then I decided to add the salsa and then I had to wait for ripe habaneros to make the Habanero Gold and, well, I got busy and.....well.....it took a lot longer than I had envisioned, LOL.

Arlene, I still have maple syrup for your DH too, my life has gone nuts lately, but I've got it, really I do.

Robin, I'm glad I could provide a smile, so many here have done the same for me that it's good to be able to pay it forward a little bit. Hug that little guy for me.

It only took me a month to get it done, but here they are! I am drooling at the sight of the salsa. That and the peanut butter. Both are gone.
