replace Washer and Dryer or Just Dryer?
Comments (6)Regarding the frequent dryer replacements. Are you cleaning the vent run periodically? And are you cleaning the dryer vent beyond the screen that comes out. I vacuum as much as I can in the area were the screen is held, using a very long flexible crevice tool. I have recently purchased an auger/brush like tool that hooks up to a drill with 12 feet of extension. I hope it works to clean out my vent run so I don't have to unhook the thing like we do now....See MoreBuyer wants my crappy Washer / Dryer; what are my obligations?
Comments (13)Give it to them and say "as is." We sold a home in D.C. area once and the buyers wanted my brand new, just received as a gift (I am practical and wanted one for b-day), 4 month old washer. I previously had a 30 year old, refurbished Kenmore and yes it still ran great for me. I was willing to give up my new washer to make the deal happen with the promise from my husband, with NO complaints, that I could get another new one when we moved. We did just that and all went well on the deal. That is the only thing they wanted but asked for our beautiful playhouse (wood built, not plastic) to be taken off the property before closing. They didn't have kids. We assumed someone with many children would buy our home, but in the end it was an older professional couple who didn't have kids and never planned on it. House selling is so strange and unpredictable and you can't ever guess who will love your home and for what reasons....See Morereplacing a dryer in a stackable washer dryer set-up
Comments (2)A stackable pair ... meaning a frontload washer with a dryer set on top that can also be separated and run in side-by-side orientation? Or a stacked pair, meaning a unitary machine that can comprise either a frontload or a topload washer, with dryer at the top, and can't be run separated? Model number(s) of the machine would clarify your situation....See MoreHeat Pump / Ventless Dryers & Washer/Dryer Combos
Comments (2)Yes, I agree with getting a pair (whether you stack them or put them under a counter) -- I'm intrigued by the all-in-ones (and the LG gets pretty good reviews), but I do think that's a last choice if you really have very little room. I almost bought a pair with a ventless dryer last week, and I learned a couple of things to consider and check: Find out if you have the option to use a hose to empty the dryer condenser into the water waste line, and - if not - how to empty the condenser reservoir. Some are located in easier places than others. Check the required electrical outlets: The dryer will need a 220V connection but some washers are 220V and some are 120V -- but some machines allow you to plug the washer into the dryer, which means you'd only need one outlet plug (220V). And find out if you need to separately purchase a stacking kit, or if it's included in the cost. I do have the option to vent in my apartment, so I ended up going with a compact size that has a vented dryer, so I can't comment on any specific brands or models; when I was considering ventless, I was looking at Bosch, LG, or Blomberg. (I would have considered Miele, but it's way out of my price range.)...See MoreFunkyart
