PM and I have been emailing about gardens and plants, and a very informal seed exchange. She wanted Great White tomato seeds and thought I'd like her balloon peppers. After a little discussion she sent me feverfew seeds for the pond bank which I used to grow for Amanda's migraine headaches, but let that fall off in the past couple of years' madness. New tomatoes and peppers, I'm excited.
Extra bonus, she sent me her handmade baskets! This is my favorite one, it's an Irish potato basket called a "sciathog". I can see how it would be perfect for potatoes, just deep enough to hold them, but with enough "holes" that dirt could fall through or water drain off.
The little round stacking baskets were pronounced "perfect" for holding the elastic hair ties that Madi and Maci have everywhere in the house, although the cat really thinks they are cat toys...
The more traditional basket is going to hold shamrocks and gold for St. Patrick's Day, and then eggs and chicks for Easter. PM says that people find it the right size for medication bottles, but thankfully, Elery and I have too few to need this, thankfully. Not yet, anyway, but I can see that it would be very useful for that, after I'm done being all decorative, LOL.
Thank you, PM, I love the baskets, and am always happy to try a new garden variety. I'm just itching to start, I'll be planting peppers in just a couple of weeks.

Comments (16)Mustangs, that's the one I bought! Fortunately, I had a gift card (for anyone who doesn't know, you can purchase Williams Sonoma gift cards with AMEX points) that covered most of it. I love it, and I've only just started using it. The grill plates pop right out to clean, and food slides right off them. I believe you can even put them in the dishwasher, although I prefer to wash them by hand. The grill also opens up completely flat. The other night I cooked cod filets in foil on the Breville, although I didn't get the timing right and overcooked it. It's going to take some time for me to figure things out. Here is the kale recipe: Kale and feta pie - 2 bunches of kale - 1 bunch of green onion - 1 package of phyllo dough - 1 pound of crumbled feta cheese - 1 egg - dried or fresh dill - 1/4 cup of sour cream - olive oil 1- Chop kale leaves, stripping them from stems. 2- Quickly blanch kale in boiling water. 3- Finely chop green onions and sauteed in olive oil. 4- Add sauteed green onions, kale, feta cheese, dill to taste, egg, sour cream and feta cheese to bowl. 5- Mix to incorporate all ingredients. 6- Grease a 9x17 baking dish. 7- Layer 4 pieces of phyllo dough on the bottom of the pan, coating each layer lightly with olive oil. 8- Pour kale mixture on top of phyllo. 9- Layer 4 more pieces of phyllo on top of mixture, coat top with oil. 10- Bake in a 400 degree oven until top is browned, in my oven it was 20 minutes. And for the lunch party today, I made a phyllo dough pizza because I had the leftover dough and tomatoes from the garden, it was really good and was served as an appetizer and went fast. Also made a red lime pie with the red limes from my garden. Picked the limes this morning Made the pie, it was so well received and they ate all! Comments (10)I have one of the West Elm trays too (mine is teal)... I've had it at least 7 yr and am pretty happy with it but don't let it sit in water (not that you would!). Mine was accidentally left outside (under a covered patio) during an overnight storm and it did get wet. By the time I discovered it, the finish had lifted a bit. My error.. but wanted to give you the head's up. It is obviously not intended for outdoor use and normally, I wouldn't have let it sit outside. I love the champagne finish!...See More
