Doesn't make me smile...makes me cringe. Gyno exams are yuck.

Agree Annie. My BP is always up at the beginning of the appt I told the dr how I dreaded it she had the nurse re-take my BP when everything was done and I was dressed , dropped 16 points!

Well to me, one of the worst things these docs do is have you sitting there in a paper outfit and then discuss your situation with you when they enter. It's awful. You feel barely human in those things so how can you even think straight, let alone not be nervous because you know what's coming but don't know how bad it's going to be.

Unfortunately, my gyno retired...but she was great. I always felt like I was in the hands of a loving mother, never intimidated. And she always said what she was going to do before she did it which really reduced the anxiety level.

My gyno back in the ’70’s would warm the metal speculum in his arm pit!

Our old GP when I was growing up had a sign on the ceiling in the exam room that said, "Smile! You're on candid camera!" I asked Mom why it was up there and got a, "Nevermind."

DH looked at the speculum picture and said, "Well, at least he's half right- you'd definitely want to give that a good clean before you served icecream with it!"
