If I had bifold door closets - I would upholster them. Add batting - then cover with fabric - maybe a cool sheet(cheaper) and either add bric brac trim or nailheads. You could even criss cross the bric brac or ribbon to make a message board for photos and special notes. Another option is wall papered panels. Just add moulding around to make a -box- out of the wall paper. Or mirrors if you want to bounce light around, but framed with moulding & not covering the whole door. Just some ideas:) Smiles:)

Pammyfay - Thanks for the photo/suggestion. My furniture is by Bernhardt - called Napa Valley. I would think its a traditional/transitional style. Creamy white with yellow and dark tan tones in the finish. I think the light you suggested might not give off enough light in the closet. I'd also like to stay in the $100 to $150 range. Feel free to suggest more to me... Do you think I should just go with the ORB finish and not worry that it's not the same as my furniture and ceiling fan hardware?

Hi Ali, In New York City apartments we have done many stacked laundry closets, usually so tight that there isn't room for anything else! Using the door for storage is great if you have the depth. It's a good idea to carefully read the installation instructions for your chosen appliances. Most dryers require some ventilation in front, so the door might require some louvers or grilles to be built in, usually at the top and bottom, if there is any chance that the door will be closed when the dryer is in use. Here is an example of an installation with cabinet type double doors with a grille above. There is a slot for ventilation up into the cabinet above. There is also a slot in the base of the doors.
