Wow, thank you thank you for your kind responses! I feel positively star struck, seeing these famous names and authorities I have admired from other threads. Deeageaux -- thanks for the detailed analysis re the corners. I�ve looked at zero radius corners and find them severe. I�d be like the Meg Ryan character in French Kiss (in the scene where she�s cleaning her keyboard with Q-tips). Re the possible tinny sound issues, I noticed that in the Faucet Direct website, one of the visitor questions was, "is this sink soundproof?" and the company replied that "no material is soundproof...." and I kind of took that to mean that the sound deadening aspect may not be so great. The Blanco arrives tomorrow (Sat.) and I will be doing spoon dropping experiments in both. Bigdoglover, the Kohler is a nice, solid looking sink. It just looked like it was swimming when we put it in the 26" (interior) cabinet opening. So I got cold feet. But I may stick with it. One of my favorite platters is 22 inches. Wouldn�t you know -- too short for the 21" Kohler and just right for the 23" Blanco. (So glad that the fab people here care about these things!) We regard each purchase as a vote and are fans of Kohler and the way they support artists and so on (and golf, acc to antss?!) but I do want to maximize my sink space. Davidro, thanks for the sink cutout hints. I think you are referring to what I�ve seen described as the "positive," "negative" and "flush" edges where undermount sink edge meets stone. I also really appreciate your drawing my attention to the sharpness of the corners in the cutout. The front edge of the countertop will be a rather modern eased edge but I can see that the bullnose will be more practical. Hmmmm. We are using a six-foot run of pyrolave (with the sink in the middle) so I really appreciate your helpful comment because I am making a list of questions to ask the template guy when he comes in a week. I love a nice-looking corner as much as the next person, but if I find that the sound deadening properties seem the same, I�ll probably go with the bigger size Blanco. The kitchen is 50 years old and my old top mount was 23 inches. It kills me to redo a kitchen and actually come out with a smaller interior sink size. I guess the answer was to redo all the cabinetry, but too late now! NYYankees fan, good luck with your gorgeous Ticor. Wish I had the space to accommodate your selection. The countertop is quartz. My house was the first residential installation of quartz countertop in Georgia back in 1997 so I think the existing cut under the sink is kind of botched. I'm not sure it can be recut, plus I just don't want to spend anymore money or time on this kitchen than I have to. The plumber told me that it would be easiest to install the same dimension sink as he can't cut the counter so I'd need to find a separate person to do the cutting.

It looks nice! Funny, it almost seems slightly wider than long (vs. square) but I guess it is just the camera angle. I really like the countertop and hardware too. Mind if I ask what stone you went with and where you got the hardware and what model it was? i know what you mean about agonizing over details. It's especially hard for me because we're going to a much bigger kitchen that we'll have to grow into so I wanted some flexibility in the design (meaning shelves/rollouts I can adjust down the road since I don't yet know all of what is going in it.) I do now have a better appreciation for drawers. And yet at the same time, I feel like I made the decision for the Rohl's farm sink without doing much research. Let's hope my gut there was correct. It's also hard because DH and I have to agree and there are a number of choices that seem good. I really think a black sink that would blend into the Absolute Black honed granite on the island would look best and be more dramatic. An actual granite sink felt too heavy and would require additional time/money and I worried that if anything broke, it would be hard to replace it vs. an undermount I will google Dawn too. The Elklay isn't inexpensive. I think it was $300-$400. Thank you! Thank you!

I don’ have the Whitehaven but I do have the Kohler Riverby in white for my main sink and a Blanco Silgranit II in white for my island prep sink. Both are undermount and far enough from each other that I don’t the different materials and finishes make any difference aesthetically. I like them both and haven’t any problems with either. But the Silgranit has a matte finish and is not a pure, bright white - it has little gray specks in it. So be aware of that. Also, Blanco will send you a small sample of the material and Kohler might as well. Good luck!
