prep sink - squareish or rectangular
Comments (5)I had a hard time finding a perfect square sink to fit in an 18" base for the prep sink on our island. In the end, we picked a 16" round sink for couple reasons. First, it fit. Barely. Second, our kitchen is full of lines and few curves. So this was design statement. Third, we wanted to put this on the corner of the island and have it accessible from either side of the corner. Since the square sinks out there weren't perfectly square, I didn't want to go that route. We bought Grohe Ladylux 3 for both the main sink and a smaller version for the prep sink. Plenty of curves. Here's the sink, w/o faucets installed yet. Here is a link that might be useful: Our Bungalow and Kitchen remodel blog...See MoreKraus sinks
Comments (12)crc532 What I noticed is that you can really see the horizontal threadlike lines in it that causes it to feel not as smooth. The free drain is a little lightweight and the sink liner is of ok quality. They both come included in the price. I think you can tell a difference in top of the line sinks but then again there is a huge price difference and that would be expected. We'll see how it holds up in the long run, that is the true test of how I'll feel about it. So much of what you get these days is just not up to the standards of years past. Things look good, but do they hold up, that's the difference. I'm not hopeful to tell you the truth, maybe those who have had them for many years can help us both to feel better about this aspect of things....See MoreHelp me Choose between two Apron sinks. Kraus vs Ariel.
Comments (7)I hope it's not too late for my opinion. I just came across this post recently when I experienced the same problem. Both seems the same at first. Done a lot of search. Ariel has more selection and models zero radius and smaller round corners. If you want a deeper bowl and deeper apron front, it will be Ariel. Hope this helps!...See MoreSinks! Blanco? Elkay? Granite Composite vs. Quartz Composite?
Comments (33)Hi Haley, Sorry I just saw your comment. Here are some photos I have in my archive. I can take different angles tonight if these aren't helpful. FWIW, 6 months later and we still love this sink. The dark color matches our black stainless appliances, but also just makes the sink more of a shadow, which is good to avoid drawing eyes to dirty dishes! We use the faucet hose+sprayer to give it a good rinse every evening after cleaning up dinner to keep food from drying in place. We've given it 1 deep cleaning (we also have a grid on the bottom, so deep cleaning involved a thorough cleaning of that, too). The water filter is good for filling water to cook or a tea kettle. The soap dispenser is actually really nice because it keeps the counter tidy. The faucet is touch activated (got it before the remodel) and it's amazingly handy. We added an air button for the disposal (which by code has to have a manual light switch on the wall, which for us is not in reach of the sink) and it has never been pressed accidentally and is very useful so I recommend it. The dishwasher air gap is required by code here so no avoiding that!...See Moredzaner
