HAVE: Christmas Trivia - Surprise Seeds for the Winner!
Comments (4)Congratulations Kristie!!!!! You got them all right. Here's a little background to expand on a couple of the answers (for those that may be curious)... Question 3) hot spiced drink Mulled wines were popular festive drinks in 19th- century London. They were undoubtedly much safer to drink than the untreated water. To make Smoking Bishop, take 6 bitter oranges and stick them with 6 cloves each. Put them in a bowl, cover with (cheap) red wine, and set in a warm place for a day. Squeeze the oranges into the wine and strain. Add port. Heat, and serve with a cinnamon stick. Question #4 - In the Ukraine, if you find a spider web in the house on Christmas morning it is believed to mean: A) Good luck One Christmas morning, a poor woman, who could not afford decorations, found that spiders had trimmed her children's tree with their webs. When the morning sun shone on them, the webs turned to silver. An artificial spider and web are often included in the decorations on Ukrainian Christmas trees. Question #5 - modern Christmas custom borrowed from ancient Rome's New Year's celebrations is: C) Displaying a wreath on the front door of one's house Romans wished each other "good health" by exchanging branches of evergreens. They called these gifts "strenae" after Strenia, the goddess of health. It became the custom to bend these into a ring and display them on doorways. Kristie, I'll be packing up your surprise pack within the next couple of days. Are you still at the same address since we last traded? Thanks again and Merry Christmas everyone! .....Heather...See MoreI need your thinking caps please!
Comments (15)We aren't dressing redneck, just decorating the rigs. I have googled but not really found anything we can use short notice. I'll check out goodwill tomorrow and see if I can find a small tree, and dollar store too. We have regular Christmas lights, but that's normal. We just found out we would be able to use the RV for the week. We didn't think we would. So I haven't thought real hard about it. I do have my late MIL's copper kettle, so DH says he can turn it into a still. And I will have my Mom on Sunday, so won't be able to do much then. I'm very tempted to just not participate in that part, but that isn't as much fun. Thanks for the ideas. Oh, and it's the outside or what can be seen from outside that is to be decorated, not the inside....See MoreChristmas Questions

Comments (138)I have several cards unaccounted for as well. It's ashame that they weren't posted that they at least received. I guess they just got busy with the holidays. :-( ishareflowers - Thank you SO much, Lisa! Yes, it is better later than never! I was SO surprised to see a card so late, but so ecstatic at the same time. I'm so glad I got one more. :-) It was super special, too, packed with 11 awesome selections. Thanks for the Barese Chard, Black Seeded Simpson Lettuce, Bouquet Dill, California Wonder Bell Pepper, Slow Bolt Cilantro, Lemon Basil, Edible Chinese Luffa, Parsnip, Calico Red Popcorn, Edible Bottle Gourd, and Lovage. Several of these are big wants of mine and some very unusual varieties to come across in trade. I'm so excited! I also wanted anyone who's still reading the thread to know that I started working outside the home again. It's been a crazy adjustment, so my time is much more limited now. I haven't been keeping up with Facebook and email the way I used to. I'm very happy how it's going, though. I bet I won't have much time for trading now, though. :-( Any last connections from those of you on Facebook, though, I would be more than happy to add you! I'm not on it 10 times a day any more, but I'm still trying to keep up with my friends/family. Blessings, Angela...See More- 3 years ago
