It is dark, bold and artsy so fait accompli! That gorgeous painting is such a strong statement piece that what would be overly bold in some homes, works perfectly in yours. Well done.

The blue mantel works very well in your space. You needed something strong to ground that painting and you nailed it IMHO!

@nekotish, @Jilly Sometimes I second guess myself. I definitely wanted a solid blue statement so that the room would compliment my blue bathroom. It is not the exact same color but it coordinates. The mantel and chandelier were a complete afterthought after I had completed the wallpaper. You have restored my confidence ;-) TY

I'm having trouble with the blue. I see an ivory mantel as picking up what's already there. I love the individual pieces....the artwork is amazing...as is the swing arm wall mounted lamp next to the bed...love the zebra rug...the wall paper....the shelving...as individual elements. I'm no expert...so I wouldn't put any weight on my observations.

Thanks! @nicole___ An ivory mantel and light fixture would look something like this. I was looking for a way to bring blue into the mix because my bathroom is blue and there is basically no blue in my room. I wanted something a little funkier than ivory.

This particular blue is very shimmery. I initially painted it a royal blue and then added several coats of a clear gloss medium mixed with a duo-chrome powder that is blue/green. Pearl Ex. It is shimmery and very reflective which would likely make you dislike it even more! The photos really don't show the duo-chrome and reflective nature of the paint.

Sorry...I thought the wall to the left was ivory....my monitor....? The blue just seems sudden...and cloud like...no connection...the bathroom I do remember....but...was stand alone...as I recall...
