Paint color change on custom cabinets

last year

We have beautiful custom cabinets that were newly installed in 2016. They were painted with good quality Dunn Edwards paint at the local cabinet shop before installation. The paint is holding up well--white cabinets and turquoise island. I'm pondering painting them to update the colors.

My question is, will having a professional paint over these be a mistake? As much as I'd love a color change, I'd hate to sacrifice quality of finish and end up with ugly chips. I'm thinking of doing a greyish/bluish/green over all the cabinets, so the white underneath would be a big contrast if it chips.

I'm debating going for the color refresh now vs. holding off for a few more years. What's the lifespan of a finish like I have?

I still like the colors and can live with them a while longer if it's better to wait, but would love a change now if it's not going to be a disaster.
