I can tell R. multiflora from others by the way it behaves once I put it in the ground. Not sure why that is, but when I try to bury the bud union, it "pops" up out of the ground as if it has a spring loaded attachment somewhere. Other rootstocks do not do that in my soil. Why is that? Anyone want to proffer a reason, hypothesis, etc.

I posted in a bit of a state of panic. Sorry. The damaged area is directly under a window that held an ancient air conditioner for years. It's a small area between the window and the top of a built-in radiator. The area was damp and another forum suggested that it is carpenter ant damage as they like wet areas. I've seen one or two of them here over the years, but I think they are pretty much gone. It was suggested I put down boric acid, stuff it with insulation and go ahead and put the sheet rock repair back up. (and probably pray for the rest of the house, but I can't do anything about that.) jaansu, before you throw any more money at it, you should do a little more investigating. If there are just two wires to the plug that goes to the fan, then your guess of hot and neutral are probably pretty safe, if they're blue and brown (non-north american universal colours, brown is hot) for example. Rule#1 - check for voltage. Work on from there. Ok, no voltage? Good idea to check the switch...however, at this point I'd also be looking for a wiring diagram. Back in the day, there was a wiring diagram stuck on the back of the fridge somewhere....or you may find one by googling. As for why the fan turns off when the door is open, is basically to reduce the loss of cold air. Like the others said, the switch might be with the freezer door - I assume this fan is at the back of the freezer? Another possibility is the fan may be tied to the defrost timer, if you have one. Most frost free/cyclic defrost fridges have a timer, which cuts in periodically and runs a heating element that melts the accumulated ice from the coils (the last fridge I dismantled did, anyway) and the fan will either run, or not run, during this spell. If the defrost timer fails it might be failed in the 'on' position (when mine did we found out because there was a hot smell while the element kept running, and the frozen food all thawed) at another point I had to replace the fan in that fridge, I had a motor bought from an electronics junk store (new) for a dollar, it turned the right way and was similar in size, with some bushing it fitted fine and it's still running almost 20 years later (as far as I know, it's in my ex-wife's house ;) So I would look for wiring diagrams, and see if you can learn more, the switch itself may also be bad or there could be a bad splice somewhere. Most of the parts like switches, fans etc are semi-universal and will be more or less interchangeable, there will no doubt be a refrigeration or appliance store that will sell parts, you may have luck there if you don't have a collection of spare parts like me (although after my move back to Canada my supply is very limited and I'm regretting how much I gave away/sold/tossed out)

Where do you live? It can help to eliminate some weeds from the long list. What kind of grass do you have or what to have? Frankly the first picture looks like unmowed grass - I don't see any weeds in it. Same with the second one. In the third pic I see seed heads that look like either bermuda or crabgrass. But in the fourth picture that seed head is either gigantic or someone has baby sized hands. The last pic clearly shows a weed. Not coincidentally, that last one was taken in the shade. Grass pictures are much better when taken in the shade. Bright sunlight makes it very hard to identify anything. Anyway it is a grassy weed and will require a grass killer to kill it. This means tough love. A broad spectrum grass killer (like Grass-B-Gone) will kill the surrounding grass that you get it on. There are a few targeted grass killers specific for certain grasses. For that you really need to know what you have. Take a look at these pictures of dallisgrass and see if they compare to your weeds. Spring is the wrong season to seed grass. Sure the TV ads tell you it's time, but that's only if you forgot to do it in the fall. Need to know what kind of grass you have and want to know if seeding is even necessary. Several grasses never need seeding.
