Light granite recommendations for white shaker cabinets
Comments (19)Here is the Macaubus on my island. My kitchen is still being worked on. The perimeter counter is different. I really love Bianco Romano, River White, and there were a few others at the stoneyard that I almost chose. Some granites are more speckly and some have more of a flow or movement. I wanted the movement and a lot of the river whites I saw had that. If you decide to look for white macaubus call around first because not every stoneyard will have it. Sometimes they say they do, but when you get there you realize it's something else. And some of the macubuses have super dark black lines that go every which way. You have a lot of variety in your inspiration pics, so I imagine yours are probably not all about the cabs. Recognize GW Phylhl's beautiful two tone kitchen in there. Comments (35)Umm, sojay, I just needed to clarify my previous post coz I re-read it in the course of re-inspecting your gorgeous xformation. When I spoke of necessity/shabbiness being the mom to invention, I actually meant that whereas most other remodels are inspired by the fact that the original is shoddy, shabby or otherwise dodgy, your original space was not any of those. That makes the vision you had that much more impressive. Upon reviewing my post it seemed even to myself like I was saying that your original was shabby and I was quite horrified - not only to have said such a thing but also because it would have been patently untrue. Comments (19)I'd vote for a white sink. The problem with black is that you can't see the grunge when it gets grungy. The white is classic, will go with your gold faucet and will complement your white cabinets....See More

As for the cabiney color if you want it to look less kitcheny the all white with a simple layout where there is a long island with stools next to the living space and all appliances hidden on the opposite wall. Add some fab pendants above the island in black and maybe a awesome black marble counter .Sort of like this and all black

last yearI‘m not a designer, but thought my comments might help. When repainting our kitchen, I considered how to connect it to open living and dining rooms and chose black lowers (with light bluish/grey uppers). Love its warmth/connection and given the entire space can be seen front door, it was especially important to me. I believe black and white works for a contemporary farmhouse and can made more so by additional choices.
If budget allowed, wood on the island is an idea. Imagine below with white uppers (even some open shelves). Really like the hood and the other design choces.
