all white cabinets and just leave black island.

I did dark lowers/island in an L-shaped kitchen and white uppers because I needed something grounding in a large open floorplan. If you go with the black, make sure that it makes sense...I love black and use it in multiple areas, and my windows are black.

Thank you for responding. I like black as well and do accessorize alot with, fixtures, vases etc. my biggest concern i have very limited daylight. it is a condo and just 2 sets of sliding doors allow natural light into this area but i do have alot of recessed ceiling light. still perplexed!

Sorry but IMO you either go farmhouse or contemporary . As for the cabiney color if you want it to look less kitcheny the all white with a simple layout where there is a long island with stools next to the living space and all appliances hidden on the opposite wall. Add some fab pendants above the island in black and maybe a awesome black marble counter .Sort of like this and all black

Go all white. This latest version of two tone won't stand the test of time. At the most go with the island different. Maybe you could find some old barn board to clad it with. In the pic above I much prefer the 'before'.

Just do the island in black. Here's my kitchen. It will make a statement.

I‘m not a designer, but thought my comments might help. When repainting our kitchen, I considered how to connect it to open living and dining rooms and chose black lowers (with light bluish/grey uppers). Love its warmth/connection and given the entire space can be seen front door, it was especially important to me. I believe black and white works for a contemporary farmhouse and can made more so by additional choices.

If budget allowed, wood on the island is an idea. Imagine below with white uppers (even some open shelves). Really like the hood and the other design choces.

I think it is too contrast with black island. I would go with taupe/wood color.
