Entry way table or no?

Trying to decide on an entryway table or not. I initially placed one with a mirror above it, but I need to decide if it looks right in the space. I've attached pictures of the space with no table and one with a table for reference. I was placing the table to the left of the door, but I have also considered moving it to the right of the door, which is also the landing for our stairs, so that it would be multi-purpose. Ignore the paint mess, it was being finished up. Help!!

either way, but I would put a much larger Slim sofa style table to serve many purposes, including a lamp, bowl for keys, etc. why not to the left of door along the wall we see?

Even a large hook or two for a coat.

Agree with the first commenters. Rectangular side table that has limited width and a nice ornamented mirror above it. Maybe the side table can have some drawers in it at the top, so it would actually be useful for that last touch with the hairbrush or your lipstick. Like such tables: Another form is possible too, as long as the width stays within limits. Don't fill the table top with nicknacks. Maybe one lamp where the walls meet and then something to put small things in (like keys) or something to place new mail on. Nice flower arrangement and done. Then some beautiful art on the other wall. Would be nice if the art would match the style of the table and mirror. Now to go for something entirely different could also be nice. Like if you have a beautiful collection of something and it is spilling over from other rooms. So place a - small in width - open bookcase in there to display it. Like: That makes your house very personalized and not thirtheen in a dozen for sure. Have fun!

Nice door. Like your current art. Your hall is probably too narrow for a table to be practical … even if a table would fit, it would be a toe stub hazard Would change the rug. If you cannot find a long runner you like … or until you do … to protect your floor and not have your rug look like an afterthought, get a mat that is wide enough to fit all the way from side wall to side wall. Brown w/tan or black w/gray either one would work. Check your local big box store for one of those rugs that has the sloped plastic edging that will not catch a toe and definitely choose one that has a no-skid back.

Your photos are very helpful. Thank you, Angelica. Here's what I would do with your entry table: 1.The mirror is a great idea. Z Gallerie has several good looking ones. You'll need to get a big one, at least 36" wide x about 48" high and hang it vertically (portrait position) in order to make the ceiling look higher. It looks like you have space for that size mirror, leaving 6" space between the console and the bottom of the mirror. Just to make sure, please tell us the measurement from the top of the console to the ceiling. 2. Then, a pair of tall, skinny lamps would look great. I'm not sold on the fountain idea as the water might splash onto the console and harm the finish. However, if that's not a problem, then you could center the fountain between the two lamps. I'd prefer to see a sizable item, not a fountain, in front of the mirror. Consider instead a statue or a large bowl, filled with seasonal objects.

Standard height for a hallway table is from 34" to 36". You can place a statue or flowers on the table to give it more height. Be sure to allow at least 36", and preferably 42", to walk between the table and the walls, otherwise people will feel squeezed as they move through the space. If there is not room for a table consider placing a round rug to distinguish the space. Or place a small table against one wall and a bench opposite it.

No to the placement you show-it's behind the door and looks awkward. It's hard to grasp the space without a measured layout, but why not perpendicular to the door on that one plain wall we can see a little bit of, though that table may be too small in scale depending on the size of that blank wall.

I agree. I considered doing that as well but I have a narrow hallway and feel like it blocks and makes it feel smaller. Now we painted it white, it may help.

If I place it in the hallway, trying to decide maybe if I should do anything surrounding this door and stairway landing then.

Here is the link. I think it would work well on the wall next to front door. You need something on which to hang company's coats.
