Furniture living room Home Decorating

Double focus living room?

My living area is almost done being a building site, so now I need to decide on furniture.
The challenge is that the living room has both a fireplace and a 10' window with a lovely view. It'll also need to host a tv. That's a lot of competing focal points.
Could any furniture arranging magicians out there help me figure out what shapes and arrangements would make this space functional and welcoming? Btw I am open to buying furniture for this.

Of the focal points the most practical one is going to be the TV in most households. You want to be able to see that comfortably seated, usually. The view will always be there, but I don't think people are going to spend a lot of time passively looking right out at it. With a fireplace you will want to have a place to sit by it, but you do not need to arrange it as a primary focal point, particularly a plain midcentury fireplace. So that would be my hierarchy, TV first and the other two secondary.

That's a helpful way of parsing the puzzle. We have enjoyed sitting with a cup of tea, looking out of the window in the previous arrangement. I do wonder if there is a way to enjoy the view without actually having to set the furniture up to face the window.

Loving the alcove ideas. SOOO much better!! This is where chairs with a swivel come in handy. We found they can be added to many chair designs. To orientate your room to the fireplace may look best--is it really how the room is used MOST often? I gave up long ago pretending the TV wasn't the main use for our living room.

It‘s time to rearrange the living room with a less focus on TV. We are family of 5 from San Francisco Bay Area living in a German rural village. Mind you the sofas are from the previous owner and haven’t thought about the living room until this week. I love color and contemporary. Goal is to have a nice sitting area for chatting and reading. Thanks for help with the layout. There is a fireplace in the middle of the room. It is used only during Th winter. Prior everything was facing the TV.

Marie13100, I mentioned in the beginning we are in the process of remodeling our kitchen and we needed to move the dining table into our living room temporarily and cover everything from the dust. Lynn G, you’re right. Having to look at the wall would be a bit depressing. The most recent floor plan I posted that had the sectional along the window and long wall would be perfect because we can view directly outside the patio door which is in the dining room.

I think I would put the TV on the solid wall with a wide console under it. 2 sofas - 1 facing TV and 1 facing FP. The one 1 facing FP will have its back to the window but if you get one with a lower back than what you have now you should be able to enjoy the view. Then you may possibly be able to fit a small swivel chair in the right corner near FP.
