Yes, I love that look but unfortunately my husband doesn't. I could probably talk him into glass tiles that are about the size of subway tiles but he thinks the glass sheets look too modern. I appreciate the suggestion and will keep trying to push him that direction, I mean, no grout on a backsplash, how can you beat that!

Marble-like countertop options include marble, quartzite, engineered quartz and neolith. Depending on the marble, it's the cheapest option but it does etch. The quartzites I found were lovely, but not as white as marble and a lot more expensive. I never looked at the engineered quartz options seriously because dh vetoed them, but there are many threads debating various brand/color choices. Neolith or dekton is sort of like a tile with no seems I think. It is the newest of the choices and there are a few thread on it. It is pricey. Your first inspiration picture (and romy's second inspiration picture) reminds me of heath or fireclay tile. Both have very lovely choices. Both are pricey (I think somewhere in the $25 per square foot range and up depending on shape and color). Fireclay will send you five free samples, which you can order on their website.

the floor is wonderful. I'd get a basic but really nice subway tile and tint the grout to a sand-beige ...... it'll play off the gorgeous floor. Keep it a little bit simple that way....too much attention and the granite and drop in sink start to broadcast their age. I think its all fine but keep the perspective with choices and money spent. .
