Hi everyone. Thank you so much for your input. @ aloha - I agree with you 100% on Glacier White for a more modern kitchen. Since I'm going for a more traditional look, I am afraid of a potential mistep by using white. @ happylady and writersblock - I got a quote for rain cloud at lowes, but the price difference was pretty minimal (less than $100), so I'll probably go with the local design studio if I choose rain cloud. I didn't get a quote on the other brands, but they were all pretty close in price to the corian. Since our kitchen is only 24 sq ft of counters, a few dollars per sq ft doesn't make a big impact. @pricklypearcactus - thanks for your input about the sinks. I am not wild about integrated, but didn't know what everyone else thinks. @ idrive - Do you have any pictures of your counters with undermount ss? I'm trying to figure out how to post pictures. Hopefully I can get a few pictures tonight when I get home. Maybe if you see the current space, you may have additional thoughts.

I suggest doing your research on fantasy brown if you are considering it. It sounds to me like a marble. (Super white is another that is often billed as quartzite but is is actually usually marble.). Not that there is anything wrong with marble--I chose it for the ktichen in our last house, but I did so knowing what I was getting. Those countertop geology threads are really informative.

for the handles, may I suggest something to pick up on the hues in the flooring? A little more copper toned. you have light cabs, light floors. I think throwing in a dark ORB w/o actual copper highlights would be too much of a contrast. IMO. cypress park Sandra, I like the porcelain one better than the other one. Does the backsplash have to be done immediately? If the tones in the porcelain tile you picked clash w/the ivory tones in the counter, it could be a problem. However, I did find some copper toned ones that should be avail. these are porcelain/SS, and treated so as not to stain or tarnish. I LOVE these for your kitchen. timeless and gorgeous. If the marble produces instant fizz or bubbling, it's probably calcite marble tile. Dolomite will react much slower and won't produce that immediat 'fizz'. the main difference between dolomite and calcite marble tiles is the chemical composition. Dolomite marble tiles are composed mainly of calcium magnesium carbonate, while calcite marble tiles contain calcium carbonate. Another important difference between the two tiles that you should note is that dolomite marble tiles tend to be slightly harder than calcite marble tiles. This means that dolomite marble tiles are more scratch-resistant as compared to calcite marble tiles. In addition, calcite tends to react more quickly with acids. They quickly form carbon dioxide bubbles on contact with the acidic solution. On the other hand, dolomite marble tile reacts weakly, and produce carbon dioxide bubbles more slowly when an acidic solution is spilled on the surface. You can perform a simple test on a marble tile sample to determine whether it is dolomite or calcite. Consider dropping a 1 ml HCL on the surface of the marble sample.
